The chronic never ending intense deadlines with a grouchy boss is really almost too much to take. Any advice on how to tell my boss he’s dumping too much work on me? Is it a ploy to have me quit cause I’m not about to quit. I need the salary. It’s so cliche the out of touch demanding boss. How does he stay a Mgr? They all know we sit and eat lunch at our desks. Barely get up to use s bathroom. When will we all stand up and get our proper rights? We need to stop being an at will state. It’s too random.

Sorry the stock could hit $150.00 and the company will still outsource jobs, layoff workers, replace 1 worker with 2 part time temps
STT stock over $100/share. That’s our salaries not being raised and jobs being cut. But hey we’re tops for buybacks and the diversity leader. Helps no one but ceo and shareholders. Just a way to pad their walkers and pat themselves on the back. All smoke and mirrors folks.
I love the boss that has you do things withholds information and when the sh-- hits the fan he beatches you out for f ing up. Real quality Mgmt style there
Some Bosses are hired or promoted from within and have the people skills needed to run a dept and motivate their workers by respecting them, and listening to their idea's
Other Bosses seem to believe ruling with an iron hand and the motto my way or else is the way to get things done. What they do not realize is this approach will cause workers to work just enough to get the job done, but nobody is going to go the extra effort.
@Just because
I agree with @Qz6RSIX-2ohw and this post was very much what I believe also. I will be in the work force on a full-time basis for 40 years in 2018. Of course I started working when I was 16 on a part-time basis so I have been in the work force for close to 45 years. Treating people with respect should be the number one priority of anyone who is in a management position. When I first started in my career I had some very bad working experiences and definitely didn't get treated with respect. My only hope is that some of these rude and arrogant people get what they deserve some day.
I have definitely met/had some rude, arrogant bosses at State Street but for the most part had positive managers who were very respectful. My overall impression of State Street is that i am thankful that I am working for a large corporation and know from former peers/friends that you could be much worse off.
I don't know what department you work in but my long career at State Street has been a very positive experience.
Actually I think my boss is over his head and running scared. That’s just my impression. I think he feels threatened and can’t handle his job anymore. It makes for bad morale and promotes infighting. I am profoundly professional and wouldn’t talk to my employees like that or treat them so insubordinate.
@Hell, I'm
Do not listen to their advice about talking to your Boss.
1st it depends is your Boss usually fair or more Dictator.
If they are a Dictator rule with an Iron fist then talking to them no matter how nice will just put a
bulleyes on your back.
The Boss will think your questiong their skills as a Boss or they will mark you as an employee not able to handle stressful times.
And employee unable to handle stress is look upon as somebody who should never interact with CLients who can be demanding or a job which can be stresssful
Hell, I'm occasionally grouchy and I'm sure it comes across. I'm not an a-hole. It's all human nature. I would say, talk to your boss. Just be nice about it, and not adversarial. And do not believe the people who believe the worst. Everyone's under stress.
Well let me ask you since you have a lot more experience than me. Where should I direct my goals if I like working at state street inspire of the cruel deadlines endless overtime I like finance a lot what’s in your opinion the best department or division to strive for. I think I know the answer and I’m trying to work my way there but I’ll take anyone’s advice if they’re willing to offer it
@Just because
I am not saying just because a dept is doing well, it gives the Boss the right to mistreat his
workers
As someone who been working for 37yrs, I see great Bosses who treat their workers with respect . And I see Bosses with the I am the Boss my word is law.
HR and Senior Mgmt only get concerned if a worker has a good chance of winning a big $$
lawsuit against the company. Other wise HR and the Senior Mgmt do not give a care
Just because the dept does well isn’t a valid excuse to have bad managers. State Street too lazy to properly train people.
That is the underlying current. That do not care. Period end of story. These ppl in charge are entitled arrogant profoundly wealthy “the untouchables”. Karma will not bite them in the butt they pay karma to bite ours instead. Haves and have nots.
Feudal society. Futile to fight it.
@The CHrnoic never
Its very easy as long as your area is doing a good job, the higher ups do not care how your BOSS runs his or her area.
I would not try talking to your Boss it will only put a target on you when it comes to future layoffs
And do not go to HR since they work for the company not for the workers.
The only time they get concerned is if the worker has a valid and a good claim for a lawsuit against the company.
