Thread regarding JCPenney layoffs

Different company

I used to like working here. I truly did. But things have changed so much in the past several years that this became a completely different company.

Scheduling s---s, plain and simple. Whether you are available or not, if the store thinks they need you, they'll schedule you. This includes holidays. Add to that not scheduling enough people... We can't have one person watch the floor AND work the register. That's just not feasible.

Staff ha changed drastically as well. People are being hired with no experience by their relatives. This is both in sales and management positions, creating a really bad and unprofessional atmosphere.

The goals became unattainable. Some much needed changes in work that would help achieve them are not being implemented.

It's a sad situation, really. It's come to a point where I'm looking for a way out, unless my store is closed before I can find it.

I’ve worked for JCPenney over 20 years in a small store in a rural community. Apparently we have to lay off 1 supervisor. They won’t place us in another position in the store, even though our work ethic is better than most associates. No going to another store. no options at all. All this after giving my all for this company. With all the corporate tax cuts, you have to throw one person out in the cold? Also I had to hear about the layoff from another affected associate. I was never informed of the layoffs thru our manager. Mr. Penney would have never done this to us.
