Charter and Altice agree to carry each other’s regional news networks

Charter Communications and Altice USA have reached an agreement to carry each other’s 24-hour regional cable news networks.

Under the deal, Charter will carry i24News, the channel launched earlier this year in Altice’s Northeast-based Optimum footprint.

Meanwhile, Charter’s Spectrum News NY1 will now be available to Optimum users in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

“We are excited about the partnership with Altice USA, and believe it is the perfect complement to NY1’s commitment to deliver news that is essential to the daily lives of all New Yorkers,” said Dan Ronayne, senior VP of operations and integration for Spectrum Networks, in a statement. “By expanding our distribution, we are now able to deliver NY1’s hyper-local coverage of New York City news, politics and transit beyond the five boroughs.”

Altice expanded its four-year-old 24-hour cable news brand to the U.S. in February, opening up a New York City headquarters and a bureau in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, i24News has its global headquarters in Tel Aviv. The network is also available to Altice’s Suddenlink system subscribers, as well as Mediacom customers.

"We are excited about the partnership"?

Wonder how excited they are about hiring hundreds of Altice's techs with the sole intention of destroying Local 3.
