Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Does anyone have any idea if we will

Get raises for 2018? I’m not kidding raised have been missing these past couple of years. I’ve gotten bonuses. But no actual raise and i’m not sure if that’s common or if it’s just me. Has anyone else not gotten a raise in the past couple of years? I mean is this there way of getttkng rid of me even though I hit a bonus? How do they expect you to pay for things. Even if you budget everything goes up in cost and no raise makes it difficult to live.

The best way to try and survive a layoff is become a PET to the your Boss and his Boss

Over the years I saw many Pets get the easiest work assigments, the easist work schedule hours

The freedom to basically do as little work and get away with it.

I’m sure it’s hapoemimg to me right now too. Sleazy underhanded way to run a business. I am now actively starting to seek a new job. I gave up a great opportunity this summer and I’ve been regretting it ever since Foolish me. Next chance I am out of state street. I’ve given too many hours and too much of my youth to this Slavs driver company so I can eat caviar on his yacht

Companies have always used the talk about salary and your going to be fired.

A worker who has been with the company for say 5+ years finds out the new hire is getting paid 10%+ more than them.

Yet they are the ones who have to train the new worker to get them up to speed.

The company excuse is well we have to pay more to get talented help out of the limited work pool out there.

I found out once a new hire foolishly told me how much they were being paid

The idiot was just out of college and was thrilled at being paid $39,000, while I was only getting $33,000.

I waited a few weeks then had a talk with my boss on how my duties had increased along with training new hires.

I asked for a raise and was told I had already gotten my 2% year 3 months ago. I left the office

and starting looking outside the company.

WIthin 3 months I found a better job paying $40,000, I gave my notice and the boss did his best to try and keep me.

But I told him I gave him and the company the chance a few months ago.

If discussing salary is a fire able offense. Shouldn’t j be terminated? No severance. No platinum parachute? Why should he be exempt. So much for us bring like the nfl where just because we’re s private company we can’t use our first amendment. I guess when you’re duper rich you’re exempt from a lot of things. Thingsvus poor serfs and waifs only have to worry about. Like our next meal or rent due?

As an old timer who was recently discarded by this company. I remember a time when I was there for 3 years I am my fellow coworkers did not receive a raise or bonus for 3 years.

All we got was be grateful you still have a job.

Now it is a know fact people who work in sales and bring in the business are the 1st in line for a raise and bonus. This dept is considered a profitable money making dept for the company.

Other depts are looked upon as being a drain on the company's bottom line, and are usually last in gettting anything

Not many raises for the past several years or almost non-existent raises. Hopefully this will change if/when Jay leaves.

There have been some but those that get any get small ones. Almost every year there is an amount that is budgeted for raises. It was explained to me that depending where you work, they either spread out the meager amount of increase that is determined for the entire larger group. So that everyone gets a very small amount, but at least almost everyone that is doing a good job gets something. Or instead it is determined to just give a larger amount (now granted this larger amount is still small) to those people that they want to ensure they are not going to lose.

So yes from my understanding there will be raises but not everyone will get them. And if you do get them they won't be much. Now we are both likely to be fired because on the flip side you are not supposed to discuss your salary, raise or bonus with others - it is a "fire-able" offensive. That is how they keep this unknown.
