What’s the consensus on the new pay program? I don’t see any possibility of making more money. I can’t take another cut after losing a company car. Time to start looking hard.

You’re right... I’m one of the old guys. And I’m going to ride this gravy train right up until I retire if they survive. I’ll work Saturdays, paint a rosy picture in my sales force reports, attend nearly daily conference calls, and smile and nod my head to portray a team player. Easy money (and benefits) at my age. If I was younger I would have left a long tine ago.
If you’re still a cam at AAP, you are either too old or lazy to go find a new job. I left and have never regret it.
I’m taking another hit. Tired of having to explain to my wife. She keeps reminding me that I have a family that relies on me. After this I think I need to go.
I started looking for a new job once I did the math. Just like all the prior programs, I make less while the execs celebrate the new cost savings. I’m out.
What does everyone think of the new cam pay program? I don’t see any improvement to my income anytime soon.
I work in payroll and cams are resigning at a record level. What’s going on in the field that is driving this?? I can’t get a straight answer at the office. Thanks.
Has anyone seen their cam lately? Are they visiting any of our shops.
If you’re a CAM and have note planned your exit strategy yet... you are not the sharpest tack in the box.
What I thought was just a rumor has come true. I now realize as a CAM I am not important to this company and it is very apparent with this new pay program. Time to seek a better opportunity.
...and here it comes. Do the math... you’re going to get screwed.
Heard four cams being laid off in Florida by Friday.
Two more in Denver. Good riddance. Waste of money.
5 CAMs Illinois
My cam was demoted to CPP this morning by the CSM. He doesn’t even know how to look up parts or create an invoice on the computer. DM said they couldn’t just cut him due to his age. I’m better off without.
4 cams layer off today in Ohio.
Going to be a lot of CAM spouses asking why they were clueless about losing their job. But then again, you're not the sharpest if you still work here.
How true. I’m giving my notice next week.i agree with your reasons along with a very poor leadership team.
I left Advance when the vehicles were pulled. It was obvious what the direction was going forward in regard to the CAM position. I now have a new company supplied vehicle with all expenses paid, a compensation program that pays a fair commission NOT an unattainable bonus, and co-workers that actually know the parts business and are respected by customers. Why anyone would stay at Advance is surprising.
Two cams quit in my region this week. Both could no longer afford the added vehicle expenses and lower bonus. Both went to the competition and will most likely take many commercial customers. Could have been avoided if compensation was fair.
Any updates on anything?
GM’s filling roles permanently or until new cam is in place with a realignment perhaps?
4 cams in Mississippi yesterday. GM's filling roles.
My cam just quit last week. Commercial sales almost immediately went to zero as he went to O’Reillys. Advance doesn’t get it when it comes to relationships. All they focus on is retail and online. Amazon continues to silently take those sales as well. Time for a career change.
7 in Virginia. Poof!
Five cams in SE laid off today. More coming.
So most cam positions are being cut... heard about 2 guys in the Midwest that were let go this week as a workforce reduction. I’m getting tired of looking over my shoulder wondering when my number is up. Time to make a decision for my future.
Never saw this coming.... guess I’ll be looking at unemployment for a while.
What happened?
Never saw this coming.... guess I’ll be looking at unemployment for a while.
Who didn’t see this one coming?
Little by little AAP has been chipping away the CAM’s pay program for years now! Most of the very best CAM’s have moved on.
Anyone with minimal IQ should be able to figure out the Pay verses the hours and corporate BS is not worth it!
There are many things one can do for a living and make better money with much less BS!
Having our meeting today. Looks like new territories again.
What’s going on? Read some of the previous posts and just maybe you’re bright enough to figure it out.
MY cam gave his notice yesterday. He’s going to a competitor. When I asked my DM about applying for the position, I was told the CAMs role was “evolving” and that the slot would not be filled. I was also told that as a GM the commercial customers from my store are now solely my responsibility. What’s going on with this?????
Bye bye cams. Hope you have something lined up.
Got a email from my CSM about a mandatory meeting this morning.
Anybody else get an email this morning about a mandatory conference call for all cams?
I heard the same thing. GMs making commercial calls. Also heard cams were not totally being eliminated. Reducing number of cams overall, with a few survivors to call on Diamond accounts only.
Overheard parts of a conference call that my DM was on this morning. Something is happening with the overall sales program for cams. Sounded like position is going away. Heard comment about GMs making all commercial visits.
Cams have been spoiled for too long, Yes take there company cars away and bonus. They make too much money as it is they do nothing for the store or the customer. Shop owners say they have not seen a Cam in years, no wonder they order from other parts from companys.
I’m not counting on much bonus money. I told my CSM I had an offer from a competitor that had a base that was $10k higher than AAP. He called me back the same day and said my next pay stub would reflect a $10k increase. Screw the bonus...problem solved!
Will the bonus for sales vs target be at 75% as well?
