DeVry was an okay tech school when it was DeVry Institute and only offered associate's degrees. Then it cut classes to 8-weeks, dropped any pretense of admission standards, started calling itself a "university", and some moron in marketing made really bad choices with regards to advertising the remaining mess. Placing unprepared students into an accelerated program is just a recipe for disaster. Now the place is tearing itself apart, sending all the students online because the stupid scheduling software can't figure out how to actually run classes onsite, and firing everyone left and right, quietly like sharks in the night, and HR people won't hire the grads or employees. Now the world thinks that I'm Satan because I got stuck there too long, so I'm still trying to help students learn as best as I can (and they can) until I can find another job (have about 20 apps floating as we speak).
Excellent post by @QfWxzxM-2fyf, completely right. DeVry was screwed once it started to pretend it was something it wasn't.
