Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

As of today the ATUS stock price is $19.86 per share that has a market value/cap of 14.64 Billions.

Altice bought CVC for 17.9 B and SDL for 9.xB and the total is almost 27 billions.

Can some one explain that? Is that mean they were OVER paid for both companies?
