#VerizonSpouses -- I know I'm not the only spouse/significant other of a Verizon employee that's been freaking out all day (and maybe checking this site every few minutes). If anyone needs to chat, I'm here. I know we all want to think our spouses are too good to be let go, but we need to stay positive no matter what. It's okay to panic and freak out for a few minutes, but don't let it control you, and don't let it last too long. We get through it by staying calm, and eventually moving on.

My spouse is doing better than I am after I told them the bad news. Turned my anger & disappointment into hope for the future. It will probably be a long road ahead filled with hard work to secure new work but my spouse said we can give all this stuff up if need be??? OK, how's that for support!!!! Spouse please be there for your laid off person, even if they were prepared financially being RIF'd, at least initially, can make you feel down on yourself. EVEN though it was NOT your fault the company leaders didn't handle the business correctly requiring the reduction in force.
My dad was laid off this morning, after 20 years of working for Verizon. Even though there have been layoffs in the past, we were still a bit shocked. It will be quite an adjustment, but I hope he finds a new job that will appreciate his hard work.
Checking this site is the worst thing to do if you are worried. If you are worried you should convince your spouse to move on or get yourself a job
husband got laid off this morning - i am glad it's over, it was overly stressful for almost a year. he'll be fine. he was in IT and worked with networks. my advice to all spouses, accept this as a blessing in disguise - the company is struggling and our husbands will be much better off if they were to go somewhere else. he hates that he lost his tenure and feels that he got punished for taking few weeks of short term disability this year, but whatever. moving on...
