Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Save Your Job!!

I am not a Union person however, we need to stop the greed. Calling in the Union will put a monkey wrench into the plan and cause delays. This will buy you sometime then you can leave on your own terms. This company has change from bad worst and the plan is to bring in young cheep help. I think it's time to go and devote your talent an effort to a company the really values employees. Today's employee moral is at the lowest point ever, no one is able to focus just worried about getting terminated. In a down economy this type of force reduction wold be consistent with the business. That's not the case here! We are bringing in $125 B a year not to shabby? We are all cutting back on company travel, employee events, pencils, pens ect, however they still have all the corp Jets fueled and ready to go. Times are good! I was told that they will continue to lay off people until something breaks then they will back off. This is the agile model. Bring in the Union in to wireless stop the nonsense we deserve better treatment.

When the union agrees to a cut, guess who it is that gets fed to the lions. Yes, the new guy. You are only worthwhile to the union as long as you provide that buffer and pay those dues, in that order. It's all about the older guys and the union heads keeping their jobs. The union is always about seniority. If you like to be played, and you really think there will be someone coming up behind you who will make the sacrifices when you are the older employee, then by all means join the union. The rest of us see the writing on the wall and understand that this Ponzi is going down quicker than people think and we don't want to be left holding the bag.

It's the vitriolic rhetoric from union against non-union employees that really underscores the contempt the union has for anyone nor feeding money into their coffers. The new blood will no longer need the old parasites.

Don't you love the idiot union logic, avoid getting screwed by the company by choosing to get screwed by the union. Yeah, real bright. We all know there's not much in the union that will benefit the younger worker. Ponzi scheme it is, and they are hurting for new money. Those union Madoff execs don't want to lose their cushy incomes.

Will be funny watching Verizon “reward” all the non union workers who crossed picket lines, laughed at striking workers, etc., get rif’d. Hope you saved enough scab dough. BTW Don’t rebut with ha ha you lost 7 weeks pay. Better to lose 7 weeks pay than your job completely. Stay dumb and afraid non union sheep.

Most under 35 are aware that the Unions represent little more than a Ponzi scheme. Nobody is buying into your funnel old man/woman/gender non-specific androgenous drone.

Here we go again. Just remember that the union wants your dues, not to save you but to help the older union members and leadership. Like any Ponzi scheme it needs new money to keep it going. Eeventually someone gets left holding the bag. Better you than me.

@Qe2J Does cutting fibers and sabotaging equipment fall under " it an understanding of my terms"? Verizon can make me look for a job but not become a criminal.

@Qe2Jp9T-pfs ""and what do you think will happen at the end of your 4 year "protection"?"" Get a 5 year deal with protection if we want. Don't F with the Union pal....It will cost you as dearly as they found out the last strike.....over 1 billion blown and the Union got everything they wanted.

Contracts don't mean jack. VZW has floors of lawyers that could find a loophole and tie up a court verdicts and outlast any union if VZW wanted to. Get what you can and look for another job knowing you are a employee at will. THEIR will.

WIRELESS don't have UNIONS and that was purposed. Verizon is trying to save money at the risk of the employees, it is sad, but true. As far as the UNIONS are concerned, they are trying to get rid of them. Just like they got rid of the West, they will get rid of the East.

and what do you think will happen at the end of your 4 year "protection"? Ive been a surplused worker, even when there was a "no layoff" clause in effect. I've been CWA, I've been IBEW...neither helped me, the hard worker. But the slackers and those that created a "work slowdown" stayed put. So save your bull $h!t for the union hall. Unlike Jesus, the union won't save you.

@Qe2Jp9T-ddu Really? "The union will not, I repeat will NOT save jobs!" Hey, genius....The Union has a 4 year No Layoff Contract courtesy of the beatdown of this company that tried and miserably failed to "rid" themselves of the Union.

Just ask yourselves one simple question.....Why does Verizon's leadership want to "rid" themselves of the Union?

Well, the Union was here long before these so-called leaders and will be here long after they're gone. Take that to the bank on your way to the unemployment office.

Nice try troll...the union is a antiquated relic of days gone by. It had it's place and time. Now it's strictly a paid-for-hire mouthpiece of the lazy Democratic party. The union will not, I repeat will NOT save jobs! It's a falicy that is sold by the unions for the price of your "dues". Bottom line; work hard, be a good person, be happy and don't put the value of yourself in what you do...its who you ARE that matters.

You had your chance literally and you said no.....The Union warned you exactly to the tee what you are going through right now and you still said no. It's very sad to see fellow employees being mistreated and discarded the way you guys are today. Thank God we are a Union with an unbreakable United we stand divided we fall position in this company....Remember it's our work that makes this company what it is....You are entitled to a fair share....Everyone knows they take way more than a fair share.
