Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

Life at wyotech

Wyotech was full of some good people who tried and hoped and a few with passion for the trade that really knew what it was. You cannot replace experience in a hands on industry. No college degree can see what a persons hands have done.

Leadership was the doom of this company. Greed was chasing the checkered flag and in no way can you sign off a student and make them an instructor and expect the same results. Nice that you all got your college degrees on wyotech a time. Bye Felicia!

There are some very good automotive technical schools out there for your son. There's UNOH, University of Northwestern Ohio, PennTech owned by Penn State, Rosedale Tech and many others. The three above schools are a lot better than WyoTech has been for years. Good luck

My son had been looking forward to attending WyoTech for 2 yrs. Signed up, thought all was good to go...and hit a few days later with this. It is a shame...shame on the powers that be. "Real" college is not for my son...and not for many kids...it's those hard-working folks that attend a tech school that make this world go 'round...shame shame shame

It's a shame that what was once the best automotive training school in the country has been reduced to rubble by two mismanaged corporations. Up until about 2004 WyoTech was the leader in graduating industry ready entry level technicians that possessed the skills and work ethic to be an asset for employers. Corinthian Colleges started the decline of WyoTech by overcrowding the classes and filling them with students that had no desire to learn the trade. They only came on the promises of stipend checks, remember the statement the reps used, "we'll pay you to come to WyoTech".

apparently that degree and level increase was not working in this instance. maybe next time you will all realize a college degree does not find the guy that installs the air conditioning duct work in your new house. this is the first example of college degrees trying to manage a non college degree industry. it will get worse, this is our new America.

That's because students can't follow regulations, they want everything their way. They didn't think they should be tested, study, pass comps, show up on time, stay sober, stay awake, follow instructions or stay off their cell phones.

Agreed. However instructors acted like it was boot camp and ran population down. Don't get me wrong as I know students need tough love but trust me I have heard of many occasions from different students on same issues. Good thing Is that instructors can move on now to another school. Harvard is hiring. We were worried about facial hair etc... lol

When you people making the major decisions that have no automotive background you're going to fail. WyoTech was a trade school, not a college. When certain management tried to turn it into a college the writing was on the wall.
