Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Let's be honest.

Why am I here? I was laid off by Fossil and when I see the stock drop I check to see if there are more layoffs / planned layoffs.

Am I bitter? Nope. I wish my friends that are still there the very best and am always on the lookout to help find them a new place to work.

Why do current employees visit this site? They visit because they know layoffs are coming.

If you are looking here and you are a current employee of Fossil your primal mind is telling you it is imminent that you will be laid off if you do not leave. LISTEN TO YOURSELF.

Keep telling yourselves that it's the magical voodoo of ex-employees and not gross mismanagement that is taking Fossil down.

Remember: A dead fish stinks from the head.

I just hope they don't replicate their last lay-off strategy. Who remembers that epic Human Resources move? "Keep your cell phone close and if we text you, you have a meeting with HR. If not, you're fine"

Good leaders make all the difference during times like this and the good ones will be honest with their people. Bad leaders are nothing more than a factory that creates bitter current and ex-employees.

Individuals are expected to give notice if they are leaving under the guise of professionalism. Leaders should do the same for them when layoffs are coming. You'll lose more productivity based on rumors and speculation than you will based on the truth. S--- it up and tell the truth - especially if it hurts. Your people deserve it and if that day does come, they'll respect you more for having told the truth than if you take the easy way out and blindside them. If you can't do that as a leader, you're nothing more than an empty suit (or jeans in Fossil's case).

It's just so great to get the view from those whose view from the high horse allows them to look down on people who have already gone through something awful and took a moment to vent. Hopefully the same fate doesn't await you because it's a truly devastating thing to go through. Don't worry though - I'm sure you'll still find your super-hilarious quips will bring you comfort if you find yourself alone on the wrong side of the table with a packet sliding your way during the next round of layoffs. Remember your own advice if that happens - don't be bitter. Chin up, buttercup.

I would love to see the company turn around, but it takes an actual spine for leadership to stand the company up straight. Best of luck.

I'm an ex-employee but was smart enough to research & see the signs of the failure about to come. I'm not bitter and I really hope Fossil does turn things around but with the current leadership I highly doubt it. Fossil will be in good company though:

Blockbuster, Kodak, Borders, Sears/KMart, Pan Am, Hummer, Blackberry and Abercrombie & Fitch just to name a few.

Then just give up and quit we do not need you trying to bring down the company.

Why does it always have to be bitter ex-employees to you.. Could it not just honestly be that some of us here are completely fed up with the direction that this company has been going and have no faith in the current leadership. Every single one of the layoffs have laid off Smart Intelligent people who were amazing at their jobs, could it not be that we are bitter that we have watched our co-workers be laid off, not because they were not superb at their jobs, but because management has lead us into this dark abyss and honestly do not care about us as employees. If you had listened and actually paid attention to the earnings call the other day, they pretty much laid out exactly what they are going to do in hopes of saving the company. They are going to continue cutting jobs to save money and in the meantime, stress all of us out with unrealistic expectations that we decide to find a new job or just jump off the roof out of frustration. It's honestly time for you to just get a clue and stop always blaming it on the "bitter ex-employee".

If only he had been this imaginitive with his thoughts when he worked here.
