Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

EDMC is over - new beginnings

EDMC sold the majority of its schools to the Dream Center Education Foundation. The new company executives have already toured most of the campuses and made it clear we are no longer EDMC and will longer operate int he same miserable ways. Campuses are now nonprofit with actual educators running the schools again - not corporate pencil pushers focused on the bottom line and cutting everything to line their pockets.. They are going to do away with the top down approach and empower each campus to make its own decisions. Something we use to do for may successful years. They want to lower tuition and open courses up for continued education not just degrees.. They are starting already to reinvest int he schools, are planning on hiring more full timers and modernize facilities. I have seen the wheels in motion on our campus. It all sounds good after years of executives stealing from the campuses, faculty and students. Let's hope this is a new start with people who care...the first signs are positive.

It is a damn shame that nothing has changed since the takeover of EDMC by the so called Dream Center. The same miscreant s are still in charge. The same scum responsible for lining their own pockets with student loan money and offering nothing In return but a lifetime of debt and ill-will still prevails. But keep on telling your story because the sociopaths will someday reap what they sow and still ask disingenuously "why me?"

Right David Mc G. You rat bastard.

#metoo. I was s-xually pursued by a supervisor at an ai campus, When a round of layoffs came the supervisor was allowed an extended vacation out of the country as I was given a Hobson's choice of fighting for a position or taking a severance. Then not only did the "executives" not protect me, they didn't even know what I taught on the local campus. They also didn't care if I went public, and hired an expensive outside law firm to defend the lying supervisor, and finally gave me nothing more than the standard severance. These people are unethical slime and to expect anything to change is a joke.

Hopefully the four schools remaining under EDMC will be closed soon. What is wrong with those of you who still work for these degree factories? Easy money?

Nothing new at EDMC jr. Same old trolling for the same old targets and now new ones with feeder GEDs being afforded the crazy and lost to ensure access to a whole lot of easy loan money.

The advertising remains unchanged and nowhere in them is a reference to the new owners.

By the way, Sourh Online has an overall graduation rate of 3%. I suppose that's better than the usual 2%.

What a pitiful joke it all remains.

"...and will longer operate in the same miserable ways" [as EDMC did].

Same bs print ads, tv commercials and internet cookies.

The executives must have missed something.

Still pathetic.

Nice try OP but the usual suspects are still in place. It's caveat emptor more than ever now that the kinder and gentler non-profit status is in place.

This tactic was attempted by Brent Richardson previously with Grand Canyon to no avail.

So you're either a s---er or a plant.

But either way, nontheless, you're an idiot.

I agree with wpd. We had the same message from the new owners when Zenith bought out Corinthian Colleges. Look what happened to them.

"The executives have toured the schools..."

And that's where you lost me bubba. Screw the executives or else rename yourselves EDMC jr.

I agree that anyone who worked for EDMC and is still at an Art Institute should be fired. The remaining faculty are horrible people and nothing near educators. They are clinging to paychecks - they know about the scams on students and stick around for VERY easy money.

Everyone should be fired who worked there for over 6 months.

They were in it when they ripped people off how are they going to change this place. Same scumbags work there nothing is changing.
