"The manager (vp) actually laughed at him for not quitting as he was letting him go."

NEVER quit in this type of situation, especially if you don't have another job lined up! It's not a matter of pride, you are much more likely to get unemployment payments if you were fired. Management is trying to reduce costs by trying to get people to quit first. "You can't fire me, I QUIT!" should be "You'll have to fire me because I WON'T QUIT!"

which sales VP in Texas? there's a few of them

Yup. The post about the sales vp in Texas is true. I never worked at EMC or Dell but I resold their kit. I Saw and heard stuff like this many times. Careers and lives ruined because folks stayed too long or refused To report the bad stuff. I had and still have several friends at both companies. Dell was always a predictable and overall good partner. EMC not so much. Great folks and bad boss. My buddy was struggling at EMC and got hoodwinked into thinking all was resolved and going to be ok then WHAM the hammer came down. The manager (vp) actually laughed at him for not quitting as he was letting him go.

I'd bet that post is about the same EMC manager in DFW not anyone from Dell RR.

Things are worse now. Threats of layoffs = power trip for the boss, a playground for the EEOC or junior employment lawyers looking for easy wins. Good luck.

Searching in Outlook Sales VP' and zzzz's ( assuming that identifies terminated employees)?

If you are Dell or DellEMC employees and you are using corporate devices for this stuff. Better polish that resume sooner than later. Dumb dumb dumb.

Irving Texas I assume? If so, RUN!

Especially if you are over 50, run faster if you are a woman. The VP for the big accounts in Texas is a bad dude! I have good friends who were chased out by this guy- ugly stuff!!

I'm exEMC. ( left by choice and living happily at another manufacturer ).

I read these posts and cringed. GET OUT!

The Texas sales VP treats "older" folks and women so badly, they end up so depressed and stressed until they finally give up their careers! I went to TX over the holidays and met up with EMC and Dell friends. This bad stuff has gotten even worse, since the merger. Some of the TX down stream managers have joined in on the bad behavior and now folks are AFRAID to go to HR for fear that they'll lose the battle and end up on the curb. I heard so many stories in just my first hour at a c---tail party that it was sickening! Couple of examples to help you on on your way- one lady was treated especially awful- over 50, very good track record, reputation, etc, (not that it matters but I saw her linked in and she still appears professional). The Dallas VP trash talked about her in front of other employees and treated her so badly that she took a lesser role out of fear. My buddies sat get doen, made her aware, and suggested she file a report but she still refuses to talk about it or to go to HR because shes afraid of retaliatiin. Bad stuff happenes to men who start to show their age, fall into bad health, are minority's etc. I'm talking to guys who were let go with 15+ years at the company who were pushed out. And good luck if you are a DELL rep trying to survive in EMC land- your target is even bigger.

I didn't have long time friendships with the folks telling these stories, I'd NEVER believe them! Not the DELL that I know! Even bad for EMC!

So back to my original-GET OUT!!!

Things are ugly. Polish your resume and RUN. I sure hope someone blows the whistle on this BS soon. That was one sorry holiday happy hour!

I recently was let go by legacy Dell and got a decent severance package. Job search horrible.

One, it takes overnight for the zzz's to show up and two, if he advised of the roles, it would not be as anonymous anymore would it? Although if terminated with no severance, might not care.

Is Texas a "right to work state"? Guessing it is.

Welcome to Dell. I got my walking papers in September but was legacy EMC and had a decent severance package. My understanding was that cycle was the last of the good ones.
