Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Happy 15 year anniversary to my fellow brothers and sisters

15 years ago today Verizon illegally laid off 2,700 New York and New Jersey hard working Union members. 6 days before Christmas 2,700 Mom's and Dad's had to go home and tell their family that Santa was not coming. This company told us to never return as they ushered us out the door, after 9 hard months on the street while my fellow former co-workers racked up the Overtime we got our jobs back. #Neverforget #MerryXmasVerizon

"You can resign from the union any time you want. All you need to do is notify your steward. "

Yup. Then prepare to have your property vandalized, your neighbors sent nastygrams, your name posted on the internet, and slobs follow you around hollering & taking pictures for more internet tomfoolery. Lovely bunch of boys 'n girls, they are.

Can you show me where anyone said you should?

There are a pack of lies about 100% of the membership working voluntary OT when there were laid-off members. That is a LIE period.

Every local took up collections and most members did their best to help. If you didn’t get any help I find that surprising. I’m sorry you got laid off. I gave every week and so did most of the people I worked with but to come on here and lie about the union does every member a disservice.

What!?

Every one of your posts has been either an insult or to rag the Union. Then you use tgird grade logic and say I bet you want me to shut up... you shut up”. Your entire argument is that people who were forced to work overtime when you were laid off are “$cubag$ but when you CHOOSE to work overtime when clearly there are others laid off it’s fine. Everybody is spineless but you, right? I love your online tough guy attitude. Your arguments are self centered and lack any logic. And yes the union is better off without whiners like you.

There's a real Union man speaking now folks.......Wears red shirts on Thursdays to cover a body that has no spine.....When confronted and has no argument left......Resorts to Insults and telling the Union member to go away and resign.

Gotcha.

You can resign from the union any time you want. All you need to do is notify your steward.

And it’s windfall not “win fall”. You barely speak English. I’m surprised you have a job.

So you’re saying you have been working overtime? That’s what I’m getting. I don’t care about the arbiters ruling it was 15 years ago. Get over over it.

Yep, Gotcha......You sure don't want me to go into the backpay part of the arbitrators ruling, do you?

I know why you want me to shut up.....I'd want me shut up if I were you too.

But you know what?...you shut up.

Ok. The most recent layoffs occurred about 3 years ago. All those people aren’t back yet. Layoffs began on the Union side around 09 with people being forced to other areas or given the choice to resign. Have you worked any overtime since 09? I’m thinking you have have. The Union fights for every lost job. We don’t win every one but the people from 02 certainly have no b--ch 15 years later. If you have shame issues see a therapist, but do me a favor, don’t go on the internet telling people you don’t know whether they are union or not.

I am very thankful for my Union it has given me a wonderful career along with the phone company up to Verizon. I will be leaving soon. but it was a disgrace that we worked during that period. I can understand the letdown and anger in those who were laid off and knew we were working overtime how could you not be. if your not ashamed I'm afraid you not union.

You Tiny Dum Dum mind.....only members that die are fallen? It's that selfish thinking that has you wearing Red on Thursday and declaring your Union membership. You really don't know the meaning of Union, do you?

And who would run for President of a pretend fake Union ( not the local Executive board ) but the "Union"....the members, filled with selfish guys who only know the meaning of.....What's In It For Me?.....well not me....You don't even know the meaning of Unionizing. That Standing together in the United We Stand Divided We Fall Union.....And there is no Local in this Union more Filled with selfish slobs than the one up there....I know where you're from now pal.

Well if you keep your selfish ways....this company will keep destroying you at the bargaining table..why should they have ANY fear of selfish slobs like you. Why should they have any fear of you at all? You've proven you don't stand together....as well......a Union.

@1mbl - In the West

Thank you for being a Union and refusing to work for your fallen Brothers and Sisters....The Slobs up in West---you know where---NY. worked there a$$E$ off and filled their pockets with cash on the souls of the "Union" fallen brothers and Sisters while WEARING RED SHIRTS ON THURSDAYS!

Yeah. Your coworkers do not want you to be president of the local. We just held elections. If your coworkers wanted you to be you To be UP, you would be UP. But you’re not. You’re just a troll. Who likes to use caps. No one, anytime would elect a moron who says “ tiny dumb dumb mind” To any position of authority. The only fallen brothers and sisters we have are those who died while on the job or the great Gerry Horgan who died on the picketline. You disgust me. You don’t seem to know the difference between getting killed for what you believe and a guy with two years seniority getting laid off and the union fighting to bring them back. You’re just one of those loudmouth a holes who takes up half the union meeting whining and complaining about stuff nobody else cares about.

CAPITAL LETTERS for no good reason

@1son

Since you have the brain of a flee.....let me try and educate your tiny dum dum mind so it might make sense.

The definition of a Union is a number of persons joined or associated together for some common purpose....Hence the old slogan United We Stand Divided We Fall. In our "Union" we have a National board that administers the financial funds to keep the Union healthy. They needed the 2,700 due$ back period. The "Union" or a Union IS THE MEMBERS! you complete moron. So now back to the United We Stand Divided We Fall part.....The MEMBERS did NOT STAND together as a Union. THEY WORKED THE JOBS OF THE FALLEN THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS! FACT! Not only did they work the jobs but THEY WORKED THE COMPANY'S OVERTIME JOBS! Because the Members we not there to do them.....Totally unacceptable if you claim to be a UNION.

You can turn to your bylaws that tell you it's ok not to be a Union....and don't worry about the United We Stand divided we fall part ....but I'll tell you this.....If The Union as a whole protested the trampling of their contract that year by walking out that day...Today we would have a Stronger (don't trample my contract) real UNION. but instead, Guys like you who call themselves union members decided to pick up the slack and the work of the fallen member for overtime. How very "Union" of you.

Wearing red on Thursdays does NOT make you a Union Member pal. Although I expect a pr!ck like you watch that Overtime call list like a hawk and is the first one crying while throwing your tampons every morning when you see your days work..... aren't ya?

To answer your last question.....My Co-workers.....want me to be the President of the Local...FACT! I wonder why?

Uuuuuummmmm....

Last time I checked the National is still the Union. So.... not really making mich sense there. If you say the Union only represented those people who lost there jobs because of dues I am here to call you a clueless liar. The reps and E boards guys work hard and care about the people they work with. Everyone I know gave cash to help those who were laid off. Nowhere in our bylaws does it say we refuse all overtime because people were laid off. That’s stupid. It sounds like the Union got your job back for you and you’re still acting like a b--ch. I don’t know you but I guarantee all your co-workers hate you.

I used to work OT and then gave my extra OT money to those laid off. A normal union guy does this so those laid off get cash each and every week. Duh, thats how its done.

@1jet

NO! The Union NATIONAL brought it to arbitration, NOT on behalf of the fallen "Brothers and Sisters"

They brought it on behalf of 2,700 lost "UNION" DUES!!! .... let's be real here.

My point is and always will be......What's this "Union" Bull$h!t ? There is no Union when the "Brothers and Sisters" work the jobs of their fallen "Brothers and Sisters" for OVERTIME no less. There should never be one minute of overtime worked when there is a brother or sister at home unemployed. They worked not only after shift but DAY OFF!!!!! Do not tell me you're Union because I'll call you a liar.

If the company was shorthanded the Union leaders should have handed the company the phone numbers of the "brothers and sisters" AT HOME!!! Period.

$GREED$ TAKE$ PRIORITY OVER "BROTHER$ AND SISTER$" FACT!

Union my A$$.

That layoff was a play on the contract that was to expire in 8 months......August of 2004

It Backfired horrendously on Ivan that year....he was to use the 2,700 as a bargaining chip for a new and longer contract that was to include and debut the brand new FTTP fiber optic to the premise in 2005....this was the plan all along. he needed and wanted a fair contract for the new project.

The Union had a no-layoff clause with a stipulation of only an external event....Iven used the terror attacks in NYC of 2001 as the external event....an arbitrator didn't buy it and all returned in September of 2003 with back pay.

This ploy was confirmed when Ivan actually hired new employees in late 2003....workers he needed for the new FTTP......this was even after returning all the employees he said he had too many of 9 months earlier.

Ivan is a New York guy that took a shot..... but he ran into an arbitrator that had ruled 5 out of 5 times against Verizon....tough luck for him.

These are the facts......names have been excluded to protect the innocent.

I recall when the Manhattan Operation Support Center was let go shortly after becoming union. The feeling of many at the center was that the union brought them in to be sacrificial lambs. Yeah, protection.

Yes, and the Great "Union" Brothers and Sisters worked overtime THAT VERY NIGHT! and the Company just to test the loyalty of the Great "Union" Brothers and Sisters ran the list for the weekend.....and guess what? every single Great "Union" Brother and Sister worked to replace the fallen "Union" Brother and Sister. FACT!

The Great "Union" Brothers and Sisters continued to pick up the "slack" of the fallen Brothers and Sisters for 9 months till an arbitrator ruled it was illeagl........NO HELP WHATS SO EVER FROM THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS.......while they racked up the win fall $$$$ of the layoffs the fallen "Union" Brother and Sisters scrapped by with ZERO help from their "Brothers and Sisters"....FACT!

Here's another FACT....The "Union" Brothers and Sisters that racked up the overtime were so annoyed by the returning "Union" Brothers and Sisters that they made SURE THEY WERE AVERAGED IN ON THE OVERTIME LIST!!!!! So just not to be screwed out of even more money that year....FACT!

WHAT A BUNCH OF "UNION" SKUMBAG$$
