Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Ready for a whopping 1% raise?!

Gotta love a company that pays millions to the execs but won't even let the worker bees keep pace with inflation! Merit raises will average 1% and MAX anyone can get is 1.9%!

The longer I work at Enbridge, the less money I make when adjusted for inflation.

Work long enough and you have to start paying the company to keep your job.

Thanks, AM, for taking away from my family so you can stuff your pockets!

If it makes you guys feel better, I haven’t had a raise in 3 years. My whole team haven’t seen a raise in the last 3 years. I would be so happy with even 1% increase. Now with the minimal wage going soon my teenage kids will make more than me. If Al and his EVP gets a huge raise and thier STIP and their other bonus I would so upset. I’ve heard our STIP won’t be as good as last year plus another year without a raise.

I'm assuming most of you are Enbridge employees from way back. Try being from a company that was taken over and almost instantly realizing Enbridge is 10 years behind on pretty much everything. Giant regression in policy, process and employee treatment is an even bigger kick in the a$$ than most other things I've read here.

Very accurate description. Because so many people who were considered to be leaders with high standards have left the company, an attitude of laisser faire and pure laziness has taken over. And why wouldn’t it? The company has made it clear that it doesn’t care about employees and what they do, and that it cares even less about good leadership. Sloppiness is rampant. High standards are gone. Are you happy, Al?

Low performers are to be found on every floor and every corner of the office. The minority good performers that are left are experiencing a change in behaviour as a result of tremendous influence of low performers. They are being swept away by the new lazy cuture current.

Go with the flow or drawn! Or you can choose to opt out and leave.

Case in point: Al Monaco is the company’s lowest performer and he’s still here.

The highest performers were laid off because they cost more than the low performers. So, yes, there remain a great many low performers at Enbridge.

Yes we do have low performers and people slacking around, browsing the internet, pretend to work from home, attend meetings whole day and some produces way inaccurate reports but they stay coz they managed up really well. Remember in this place that it is so much more important to be more “in” the circle than have more education, technically competent and produce better results.

Your Manager friend is just using wishfull thinking, merits haven't even been approved yet. Just because they reccomended you for a number dosen't mean you will get it. The company has to average 1%, so if you got more, congratulations, your team mate got less. This only works when you have a varity of performers, but after BEOF, we really don't have low performers any more.

I'm curious as to how they are going to spin the Line 2A spill to short-change everyone's STIP?

Anybody know of a good company to work for? It must not be just us that is getting hit with cutbacks. I see other energy companies on this website that have a similar storyline to us. Id hate to leave one company that is in the middle of sh-- storm just to get dropped into another one.

Huh? By enbridge standards, that 1% is ok. Consider yourself lucky if you are not one of those who got demoted with corresponding pay cut or you are not one of those contractors who pay cut is anywhere from 25-35%. And if you belong in my group and you are a contractor, be ready to be treated like crap. And if your people leader is nice and competent, consider yourself lucky if you are not told that you are lucky that you have a job and not out on the streets.

I left the company and got a little over 50% raise...I would recommend going somewhere that values your education and expertise. You can’t complain if you don’t try to better yourself and your family.

This company stopped giving raises some time ago. Consider yourself lucky to keep up with inflation.

Not everyone can get a job that quick coz I know some people who had been laid off still hasn’t found anything after a year. Some of those I know who left are the best performers and they left because they got a better offer. I asked at least 2 of them and they said they got at least 30% more, so they realized they were severely underpaid in enbridge. For the meantime, the low performers and less efficient are just hanging around coz they can’t get better offer outside and they use as much company benefits they can avail and make excuses to work from home and attend all meetings.

I got a 1% raise last year and was so pissed I decided to reduce my hours by 15 mins per day. Nobody even noticed. Im planning on reducing my hours another 15 mins a day starting Jan 1st to reflect the pension pay cut but if I get another 1% raise I will be reducing my hours even more. Ive got too many years to quit and am just waiting for my package like everyone else at this point. I guess my strategy only works if you are a salaried employee and not paid hourly but I urge others to do the same.

The number of employees and contractors that I know who had left on their own just this year because they got a better offer is both disheartening and encouraging to others to leave too. If other companies can offer them better why can’t Enbridge offer it. I know at least 2 dozen people already left coz of better offer and they are good performer and they brought with them the experience. I hope the management realized that the cost of hiring and training are way more than actually keeping the workforce who works like a horse and getting rate cuts, pay freeze, and millions of reasons to get demoralized. It is not fair when rate cuts is not across the board from top to bottom.
