Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

I’m just not optimistic about 2018.

I know all the numbers point positive and I’m appreciate if the 401k balance. But that doesn’t help with layoffs and paying bills and getting by.

Jobs are out there butbeither with ridiculous requirements and degrees or crappy everything else.

I hope no one gets laid off esp that 12/20 date the earlier poster wrote about. I do know ppl laid off though elsewhere just this entire fall There’s no mercy out there and unless your 20-30 good luck finding a job.

@QJ7L60Q-4zwd Great post and I agree with you 150%. The lawmakers need to do something to help the economy of this state. What happens when their is a mass exodus to other states since most of these laid off workers can't find employment.

I personally know of many peers/friends who are already trying to find employment elsewhere.

If the lawmakers really care about the local small/large businesses of this state they need to do something about these layoffs.

You ask about our lawmakers. They’re the biggest joke. They care not one iota about us. They lie say what you want to hear so they get reelected. Senator EW is the worst she’s done zero and if she doesn’t know about the 7000 layoffs or hasn’t reached out to STT then she shouldn’t get re elected wake up ppl speak with your votes and call their offices flood them with calls and emails someone needs to help us this is bloodletting going on.

Also read Indeed which in my opinion has the best reviews from current and former workers.

Everything said there is 100% true

Bad enough your job is outsourced and your new job if you find one pays you 35% less .

But even worse is having to actually train a H1-B worker who will be brought to the U.S to sit at

your desk.

@QJ7L60Q-czg I agree with you but also know of many of my former peers who were displaced/laid off who are in even worse situations. My biggest argument and have already said this and will repeat it again, where are the lawmakers of this state that continue to allow many of these large corporations to outsource so many of these jobs. How do they think that these displaced, laid off workers are going to survive in the state of Mass or NY where the cost of living is close to the highest in the nation? Just my take on it and I am sure that many of you will agree with me.

Take the time to go to Glassdoor or some of these other job sites and read the comments about State Street and many of the other large organizations. You will be amazed at what you read on these websites.

@I know personally

Yes there was a time when ever high school and college kid dreamed of working for State Street.

Being able to try different jobs ,advance up the ladder. Have a nice 20,25,30,35 year career.

Then the evil bean counters and overpiced Senior mgmt starting to arrive at State Street.

Employees were no longer treated with respect , treated as valuable assets to the company.

The majority were looked upon as exspensive workers who had to be laid off, outsourced.

Yes I so many workers who survived the 15 years of layoffs, suddenly become stressed, headaches, stomach aches. The stress of seein their workload doubled, tripled.

Going 2 to 4 years with no raise or bonus, and if they did the raise was a 1% to 2% , the bonuse maybe 10% to 20% of their weekly pay.

It’s because SST telegraphed news of 7000 layoffs by 2020 and the clock is ticking. 3500 in a year will be noticeable. The worst is yet to come so it’s the reason for your personality changes. I would say get out but no place is safe. Law offices. Hospitals. Tech. Retail. Nothing has not been hit by layoffs. That’s what occurs when you have a global economy competing with countries where people are just happy to make a dollar a day. We can’t win that battle.

I know personally state street has changed me into a negative distressed always unhappy inttense anxious person. The impact of living under duress for so many years is too great. My hours are brutal. It doesn’t let me even look for a job elsewhere or live a normal existence. Modern day slavery indentured servant.
