Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

No professionalism

Williams is a large company with an overwhelming amount of good ole’ boy attitude. There is a distinct void of professionalism. Salary increases and promotions are made based on who you know, and how close relationships are to one another.

The hard working employees are left with crumbs while there are those who couldn’t give a damn about the success of the company who ride on their coattails. Whatever happened to hard work and dedication paying off?

Instead, it’s a “you scratch my back” atmosphere with a definite disregard for the success of the company or the growth of its people. I feel for those who have given everything they could to the company to be devalued in such a way as to be overlooked and underappreciated.I’m just happy I’m no longer one of them.

Not all departments are the same there but from what I have experienced, it is a good ole boy group. Unless you are in that group you can forget about any growth, pay, bonus. etc......you will always get the crumbs. Most managers in this group were at least 2-3 levels above their pay grade and had NO IDEA what they were doing. And as you could expect, when things go good they take the credit, when things go bad, they lie and blame those who report to them.......but in reality, this could be said for any company. There is the good and bad.

Best suggestion is to move onto a different company to expand your career. Don't leave it in the hands of an idiot boss, that is your fault.

I work for Williams now (been here 5+ years), and couldn't disagree more. You might have had a boss / director that put you guys in a bad situation by acting this way, but that is not how the entire company operates.
