Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Layoffs at 3M have started, 430 expected to be affected

They are shutting down the whole Eagan plant, layoffs have already begun.

Bumping from an older thread for info. It's been confirmed, the plant will be closed sometime next year. Over 150 people will be laid off from the plant, and that seems to be only the beginning... Overall, 430 jobs will be lost.

Closings in Mexico and LEGO way Enfield Ct are also happening. Ct refrigeration filters were sent to Mexico a few years ago. Now 3M is discontinuing the entire product offering. Ct layoffs included 5 employees Friday. With the balance of employees minus 1 transfer to Stafford ct. Meridan ct also lost the world headquarters. Which now will reside in St Paul. Stafford will lose about 40 employees after the discontinuation of its MicroKlean product. Which has been around since the 1950’s. This is scheduled for 2018 closure. And ofcourse Eagan plant closing sums up the total of 430 employees. Purchased as an aquasition 10 years ago. 3M has been cherry picking the good and dumping what it determines is unprofitable, or poses public and employee heath hazard risks with the chemical processes used to make the filters. Carbon. Formadahyde. And other chemicals used in consumer filtration of water and other processes which pose long term health issues to the consumer. Not much of a world class employer.
