Like many other online entities, DeVry's online programs have no credibility and academic integrity! Most students buy course contents from websites like mycoursehero and just do the cut and paste and get their degrees by paying the tutition!
it is interesting to see how DeVry fooled accreditation agencies like ABET (or ABET people closed their eyes) to get maximum accreditation for their online technology programs! Shame but on????
Dirst is gone?
why did E. Dirst quit? drawing too big of a paycheck?
Promotions ???
Promotions just went out. Mostly to kiss asses and brown nosers. People getting passed over by newer incompetent colleagues. Guess we now know what the job status and values are. Complete crap!!!!! Time to update the resume and work for a company that is less political and values hard work instead of a-- kissing.
Used car salesman is quite an appropriate analogy for Earl. I used to work at online. While he was giving a tour to a potential client for IES, he was telling them if they needed people in the office till midnight or on weekends (Sunday included) that they could make that happen. He was making all these promises and this happened repeatedly to different clients. It sounded a bit desperate. But I remember emails going out to wear business casual attire on those days and people going around to make sure cubes were clean. We went through the same crap when the Hamburgler was coming for a visit. God forbid the office look like a functioning office. Maybe if they had been more worried about how things were working instead of how pretty it looked, the place might be in better shape.
IES was a failure from day one because they used DeVry recruiting strategies instead of tailoring it to the IES client’s student demographic. Plain and simple.
Problem with IES was that they thought they were coming up with this brand new idea that was cutting edge. Turned out they were behind several other companies and even text book companies who were doing the same thing. For much larger schools who some had some awesome reputations. As usual DeVry was behind the ball trying to catch up.
Earl always had people in trying to sell the place and services to potential clients. He reminded me of a used car salesman. Was NOT sad to see him go.
What about Online Services, or Global Share Services, or whatever brand the folks at Diehl Road in Naperville have given themselves? They comprise about 80% of DVU's back-office operations from registrar to admissions - what is going to happen to them? Especially since Earl K failed to put a dunk of any sort into the hoop with his brilliant "IES" plan?
Does anyone know the status of any jobs yet? The deal is not yet sealed--there is still a possibility (and a strong one) that it will fall apart. If so, the future is to continue on "right sizing" until no one is left or bite the bullet and do a teach out???
