Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Should I accept a job at Citrix

I was offered a job at Citrix Santa Clara and at several other companies in the Bay Area.

My question is if I should take the citrix offer or the Apple or Facebook offer. They seem the same but the Citrix one is lower pay and fewer shares than the others.

What do you all think?

Thanks all, I took the Facebook job.

They seem to have innovation figured out

Probably better to keep looking for a company that does actual innovation instead of repackaging old technologies to run in the cloud. The company is all about satisfing the financiers and nothing for employees .

Good luck

In what universe is Citrix "a great company with a plethora of learning opportunities"? Since when has the chief people person stood up and talked about opportunities?

What exactly is "fantastic" about Citrix? Budget cuts, layoffs of loyal workers, product sell offs, building closures, hiring of low paid visa holders?

How exactly can employees shape a company that is focused on shareholders and not on products or customers and that doesn't care about its employees.

This forum reflects the experiences of people who work at or worked at Citrix. If that is negative it is because Citrix is a negative place to work.

Why would you hope to one day rejoin the ranks of fellow Citrites if you found your impossible to pass up opportunity elsewhere?

But don't worry Citrix won't be around long enough for that to matter.

This is obviously false information as citrix do not offer shares any longer when they hire new people. It has been the case for about 10 years now.

You probably want to keep looking sweetie. All the companies you mentioned are in massive turmoil and you sound like you do not deserve the visceral exposure to such rancor.

I worked for Citrix for many years and have recently moved on when faced with an opportunity I couldn't pass up. It is a great company with a plethora of learning opportunities. They are however unfortunately going through a period of rediscovery with allot of investor pressure. If you need job stability(if that is even a thing) then you might want to pass. However if you are tolerant to moderate risk and are skilled enough that you can quickly land back on your feet then it is a fantastic company. You would learn allot be given an opportunity to shape the company through its transition. I do hope to one day rejoin the ranks of fellow Citrites. It's not an easy life decision but this form is going to be overwhelmingly negative so take it with a grain of salt.

The only constant in life is change.
