Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Did you hear the key data point at GE Digital All Hands?

Listen to the replay again when Khozema talks about $200m in cost out to get 2018 op plan down to around $1b. Then he mentions additional cost challenges from corporate to be determined and mentioned another $200m in cost out as a possible outcome (to get op plan down to $800m).

Do you catch that? Khozema probably slipped in letting that out, in the spirit of "full transparency," but that is clearly foreshadowing more cuts coming in 2018. Wait until Apr 2018 when those that joined Digital in Apr 2017, who were immune from current round of layoffs, become eligible to be cut. What other groups will get cut?

Good luck.

Next thing to go are those ridiculously expensive drinks in the fridge. Everyone knows that a silicon valley based company can't maintain beverage costs and be profitable!

Always pay close attention to shipchandler. He basically tells the story as he quotes the numbers. The 200 million is correct. I thought i was only one to catch it. Great post. He also said they raised our cost out some more so it is no longer 750 million for digital. Somewhere near 900 million. So looks like between 1000 - 1500 out of digital in 2018. Also note that BH said that cuts will continue through first quarter of 2018 before they normalize.

Why were those that joined Digital in Apr 2017, immune from current round of layoffs?
