Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Has anyone ever been to the massive Intel annual party?

What about that big party they have every year. The one where they invite the Intel marketing guys from all over the world on an all expense paid stadium event with lavish hotels and bands playing. You know the one where BK fires t-shirts into the drunken crowd. They sometimes share the pictures on circuit (pre ACT)

Oh you didn't get that invite? That's because you are only an engineer.

Ehh, some inaccurate posts here. As Intel was based in California (forget the Delaware financial aspect), there were TONS of PC (politically correct) classes we all had to take. Therefore, the tone of the conferences became less and less s-xist over the years (like, the last few decades). That's not to say things couldn't have happened in private settings; there was certainly LOTS of FREE boozing going on. But the outward aspect of these things was pretty tame, mostly lots of B-grade rock acts doing the corporate circuit, as previously pointed out. Which makes me question the year of the DTTC conference w/Portland cheerleaders.

Engineers used to have DTTC conference. Even that event had Portland Trailblazer cheerleaders to smooze with horny engineers.

SMG throws ISMC every year, more or less, in Anaheim or Vegas, though other locations have occasionally been used. Its a Sales and Marketing Conference. And yes, it's a boondoggle. If you use it efficiently, you can get a lot of networking done. Mostly, it has devolved into a waste of time. IDF was a far better use of energy, where both internal Intel networking and customer meetings could all be done simultaneously. But they killed that, too.

Historically they have been for SMG only. I saw Fall Out Boy, Train, Goo Goo Dolls etc... great parties :) The best part was they rented out Disneyland (or California Adventure). As others have said, very few engineers would be invited....

I don't remember any scantily clad people at the annual Intel holiday party at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). This was a family night out.

At least this is what it was three years ago when I went.

For those of you at that party, I was the man dressed in the transparent raincoat with lights.

Fires t-shirts into the drunken crowd or rolls of paper towels?

Yes, being a female engineer, I was shocked to see Intel pay for scantily dressed cheerleaders at this event.

Engineering slaves do not get invited to lavish parties. They are much too ugly for that. Now get back to work.

Many other dept have such parties as well. IT does a yearly party with all expenses paid biz class trip for IT managers from all around the world. IT call it leadership camp or something like that, but its an all out Intel expense party. Lots of boozing. This year it was at the very expensive Marriott SC. Let's see next year where they will throw the party.
