I can't stress hard enough how much working at Aflac IT s---s. The atmosphere is very political, you have to be very careful what you can and can't say. Everybody here knows that one wrong word can cost them their job. Not to mention that the department leadership doesn't care about the employees and favors contract workers. Can't say how many times a good idea was dismissed by an employee, just to have an inferior one implemented by a contractor. I am hoping I am part of the next layoff round, I could use a push to leave this place.

I know IT is a dumpster fire right now, but I promise you it’s not much better in other areas of the company. The politics, backstabbing and cronyism are unlike anything I’ve previously seen. Most ‘leaders’ are long-term employees that have been promoted through the years into positions they have no business being in. I wake up every day amazed that the individual in charge of my department has a job, much less is a company officer. It’s like the elephant in the room that everyone notices but nobody speaks of. And upper management seems totally unconcerned at the destruction this individual causes. Only lower-level employees are held accountable.
