Now everything makes sense... I've been hearing for weeks that we (employees based in Houston) were going to take a big hit before the year end. The offices "relocation" is nothing more than the perfect excuse to slash the current staff from 3,000 to less than 1,000... Heartless people...

HAVE to relocate out of Houston due to two massive unexpected floods, but WILLING to stay in an island that stares down the possibility of category 5 hurricanes EVERY year.
If you think houston is a cesspool please share where you’re living for comparison thanks.
Does anyone know, will factory grunts (direct labor) be afforded moving expenses, if they are willing to move? I dunno, but I bet not...
I do know that MANAGEMENT, when hired on, or needing to move within the company, are given EXTREMELY generous moving allowances! Once again, we live in a "classy" society... And the upper crust have no REAL class, they just have all the money and power!
Meg is doing them a favor by moving them out of that cesspool of Houston and to a better environment. They are all Compaq people anyway, so who cares?
"Moving to Chippingaway Falls! "
Be WARY, be VERY wary, of the gangs of roving young, wild wolverines!
Moving to Chippingaway Falls! No one, even the best rumor producers could not have made this up. It is a nice area if you like the outdoors. Kinda like Bosie in way. Little too small for me. You could slowly move over to JAMF if you find you like it and want to stay. Have a Linnie's on me. You Betcha' . Good Luck to All!
I find incredible the number of people that have told me that they will just "wait & see", without aggressively pursue jobs outside the Company. Crazy... HPE Next will slash out 3 out of 4 current employees within the next 2 years.
I keep hearing that Monday the 6th will be a bad day
I found out yesterday that I was going to be let go from Omaha. The problem was I was supposed to have been told on the 6th. Nothing other than budget cuts.
290 jobs ejected from Houston? Some HR exec's got a twisted sense of humor.
Only 1 out of 4 current employees will remain as employees of this Company after HPE Next is fully executed in a 2-years timeframe. Just think about it... This is just the beginning.
..1civ, you don't sound very civilized to me. Civilized people don't put others down for the fun of it. Do you steal candy from babies to enjoy hearing them cry?
What would you do without the manufacturing folks (worldwide) that you sneer at? Manufacture everything for yourself? Good luck with that!
My goof, sorry...
Make that Wisconsin, not Minnesota... (Is there any difference?)
Houston Chronicle says 290 HPE MFG jobs being moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
Yes, the 300-plus direct labor jobs will be moved to SGI-legacy Minnesota. Just an FYI-detail that has been left out here.
No locations are perfect... Hurricanes in Houston, cold weather and snow-storms in Minnesota. I hope that HPE will do better to safe-guard against cold weather in Minnesota, than Compaq did in the old days in Houston (they built up the foundations of the buildings to get out of the flood-plains, but they didn't do it far enough up).
Also I hope that HPE will spend the extra money in Minnesota, to guard SGI facilities against gangs of roving wild wolverines!
@Q2AD0m7-1yje - good riddance. We should be outsourcing MFG anyways. BTW - I can tell by the stupidity of some folks posts that they must work in manufacturing. Hopefully they will leave this forum too and go B**** about stuff on the Wal-Mart layoff site.
OP - HPE is not leave my Houston. The company is being smart by moving out of a flood plain. Any employees in Houston should be thankful that they won't have to work in a water logged, mildew ridden, stinky building 3 months out of the year.
Well... manufacturing in Houston got WFR'd all together. Over 300 manufacturing employees were laid off today all at once. Way to go HPE!!! This company makes me sick.
HPE Houston - M7 and CCA's will be relocated to a site in 'northwest Houston'. HPE has retained a broker to look for a site to build a new facility. HPE Houston manufacturing will move from Houston to Austin.
Neri and the gang all took turns applauding themselves today for taking action after the site had been flooded twice in two years although I can count 5-6 times since 1998 that the campus has flooded - especially the CCA garages that have underground parking. They seemed really proud of themselves. The employees attending the HPE Houston Employee meeting probably weren't expecting the news. The move will happen over the next two years so they say.
What are you talking about???
