Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Microsoft wants Intel CPUs but not the modem!

New Microsoft Surface book cellular will not use Intel modem. One would think when they are using Intel CPU, they will use Intel modem as well for better integration if nothing else. After losing Apple watch, this is a second slap in the face for Intel. What's happening with Intel modems ???

@dnt , then why did Qualcomm bid for it? If Intel management thinks they will land a big deal modems without having proven itself in the market, I would be even worried because that kind of management will surely run the company to ground...

@dnt too small for a 50m unit player but not too small for a 1000m unit player. About sums Intel up.

Qualtroll, there are simple reasons why Intel does not have a modem in that product - the major reason being that Intel never even tried to get into it in the first place. The revenues from that kind of product are so low that it's basically a zero sum game, so it's not something Intel pursues anymore.

Sorry that you still feel sore about Intel's win at Apple that you need to post this b---s---.

You don't have a mobile business when you can't win this socket
