Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Citrix Sales Layoffs

I heard sales is going to be hit hard because they have a huge team that simply builds a TON (like $45 million in a week) of bogus pipeline and rejoices if they close 15% of it.

There is a ton of redundancy ie ...one customer will have someone who handles support renewals, one sales person on the inside, one sales person in the field, one who specializes in Netscaler, one who specializes in Sharefile, etc. Citrix sales is the biggest money pit Citrix has.

In the end, the partners are the ones closing what little bit of pipeline gets closed with the exception of a few great Citrix sales reps.

Meanwhile, partners have virtually no channel support.

Here's a partner hoping Citrix realizes and lives up to their #Citrix partner love bs

I think it's just more the "movement to the cloud" that never happened and Elliott Groups timeline...and the loss of key developers over the last 2yrs etc. It is what it is, move on - there's a whole world out there

People, it is what it is. Each department performs differently and motivates differently.

Wow, I am currently in Citrix sales. Yes, there is a huge focus on pipeline build, the number of calls dialed with no focus on talk time or quality conversation, converting leads and a ton of other busy work that management can put on score cards to pretend they are training people to do something. That is not the sales team's fault, it is poor management that consists of old school stock market strategy from the 80's or something you see on those old movies. That being said, if you can utilize politics to get a position in the field, then you become part of an actual sales team. In regards to the manager's response from earlier, yes sales is paid below industry standard to a point in order to get sales to work harder because they are paid above industry standard after quota is attained. That being said, no one enjoys the inside sales role, people cycle through quickly and I have to say it is because of poor management that is all about hype and bluffing to their Sr management. It is disappointing because if there were better management in place internally, they would be ale to keep talent and send more talent to the field. Unfortunately, most people don't troll through the mud long enough to make it to a field role. Again, the performance and redundancy of positions is not the sales reps fault. So please blame poor management and not the sales team as a whole.

Right, because Citrix is the only company that builds inflated pipeline. You people sound like salty idiots or top-notch trolls.

Citrix is undersaturated with sales when compared to other companies and they pay below industry average. Layoffs might be coming, but it has nothing to do with how they build pipeline and celebrate sales competitions.

Do your f---ing homework and stop wishing layoffs on other people.

Yeah, but building all of that totally-legit-and-not-at-all-designed-to-make-inside-sales-look-better pipeline is really hard work!

What are you talking about? They don't close 15%, it's more like 8%. They also don't build that much in pipeline in one week unless it's Grand Prix which only happens once a quarter. (Grand Prix, a.k.a , build bogus pipeline week....then spend $15k on an open bar to "celebrate" their BS numbers.)
