Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

cloud seduced or what?!

I read these threads as I am really worried about my future. Some are very very good because they are considered and objective, some are clearly a little "tainted" shall we say. So I decided to do a little mystery shop. Simple question to HPE online sales peeps, do you have a cloud offering that is like AWS - where you provide credit card - and a consume service? Yes we do was the confident answer....

Not even going to comment on the reply, you can be your own judge of that - here is the business solution.. the Hyper Converged 250!

Hyper Converged 250 family eliminates complex solution stacks. It combines a powerful Apollo server platform and mature StoreVirtual data services from Hewlett Packard Enterprise into one building block to simplify the delivery of virtualized servers and desktops. The Hyper Converged 250 family supports VMware and Microsoft virtualization technologies, and continues to provide a turn-key virtualization solution for medium-sized businesses, enterprises, and IaaS providers.

Designed from the ground up for the software-defined data center, the HC 250 enables a standardized, appliance approach to virtual server deployment, regardless of whether it is used as a primary virtualization platform in medium-sized businesses or as a dedicated resource pool for specific applications in the enterprise.

All hardware and software components are pre-installed and pre-integrated by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and quick customization using the OneView InstantOn software enables faster time to value. After the initial installation, IT administrators manage their virtualized environment within VMware vCenter Server and OneView for vCenter, or with Microsoft System Center user interfaces and HPE OneView for System Center management integrations.

Nobody is defending the response. Pointing out that inside sales and chat bots respond like this is an indictment on the business model that the bean counters are endorsing, actually. Also, the HC 250 is end of life, not to mention on-prem hardware that is not a cloud you can consume as a service and pay for monthly with a credit card. This is the low cost model that the upper level executives want. It's their choice.

In what way, ever, is flogging a "box" that you manage onsite a cloud service offering? Read the text of the submission... it is utter crap!

so s/he asked an online rep. That is what HPE marketing are pushing. Or, go to a partner who may or may not get back to you, may or may not sell you an HPE solution.... or have a real laugh and try and get someone in an HPE office to call you back, assuming you get to speak to someone on reception who vaguely gives a darn.

Agreed. Pretty much a canned response..

The key is that you asked an "online" rep. This is the kind of stuff we see from the chat bots and inside sales reps.
