I know there are a lot of bitter and angry folks in here, but it seems like bashing a lot of people in management positions even tho there are some that really do care. It can’t be fun to have to constantly deliver bad news to people and they need their jobs too. I’m just saying I’ve had some managers in admissions that literally offered to give me a loan and help me out when times got tough for my family and I was struggling to pay my bills. Did we all forget about those people?

don't disagree that everyone who works here is somewhat morally culpable for the company's sins, but when was DeVry criminally convicted of fraud? A settlement is not a criminal conviction.
This post is fear-based nonsense and outright lies. If you willingly stay employed as a manager with an organization that has been criminally convicted of defrauding the government and its customers, then you are either an idiot, a liar, a criminal, or all three. The executive managers are greedy vampires squeezing the last dollar out of the company while pretending everything is ok in order to prevent everyone from heading for the exits all at once.
Okay, but what's an IES?
My manager was a useless twit, so I'm sure she is still there.
Higher ed does look down on Devry, but it doesn't mean you can't still get a good job. There are several companies who do what our IES does. I had 2 that were interested in me. (devry was late to this game because the companies i talked to service big schools and had been doing so for years) If you want to stay in education, try looking at one of those places.
My personal manager was fine, fair and good to work for. She just got laid off. Surprise, surprise, surprise. Don't even know who I report to now. I have had some good local managers. The overall direction of the company however, is to burn through all remaining goodwill and assets as we move toward shutdown mode. You can thank a few particular people for wrecking this place, and it's not your local managers. It's the higher ups, the untouchables who get the money, new job, and no blame for any of what happened. They wrecked careers and student hopes in the name of short-term profit. Am I bitter? F- yeah, I'm bitter. And angry. I joined this place back when it was good, 15 week classes twice a week. I put decades into it and did the best I could for my students. I still do. Now the education industry is shrinking and trying to get a job while working for a for-profit is like telling people that you like to torture small animals for fun. You must be an unethical piece of S- to work there...you even see that attitude here on the layoff board. We are pariahs in education and the job market. I am trying desperately to find another job. I have been angry. I have been depressed, anxious, and borderline suicidal. I watch this place fall apart due to stupid management decisions and it is killing me. Let's make everyone teach te same exact content--teachers are replaceable! Let's have 8 week classes that only meet once a week and not even consider attendance! Then let's cram underprepared students into those classes! Let's let student evaluations drive any faculty coaching! Let's fire teachers if they get bad evals or can't fill out a compliance form fast enough! After 2016's settlements I am now completely unworthy of getting out, so I will have to ride the final DeVry train into the ground unless they kick me off first. I guess I will have to work at Cheesecake Factory when they finally lay me off. At least there's a good alumni network there.
