Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

I was WFR'd in 2015

I was WFR'd in 2015 under the premise that I retired. What bothered me most is that once I signed up for WFR, which was before the split I could not or would not be able to apply for a position with HPE. I spent 40 years of my life working for Digital>Compaq> and HP...I regret not taking the package offered by Mark Hurd's regime which was so much better than what Meg offered us. Was I compensated well ? In retrospect I was, not great but ok compared to what I am doing now. People who spent the majority of their career working for just HP were able to leave with the grandfathered pension plan which we never got that chance. I just feel ripped off.

Hey it's this post again, time to reminisce. Once I started seeing DTs with 30-40 yrs experience getting booted, that was when I noped the f outta there, like what's the point of even staying.

The issue is HP is a dishonest company they are the biggest loophole for outsourcing jobs overseas. Lots of North American companies when they outsource jobs to HP the very next day those jobs are gone overseas like India, Philippines, Bulgaria, etc ... where they already have a very large presence. There is dishonesty by big companies and HP. How come governments do nothing about it? I guess that’s how capitalism works.

The OP has every reason to feel ripped off. He/She has given 40 years of dedication and loyalty to HP/HPE. Doesn't that count for something? Doesn't the company at least need to honor the grand fathered clauses in benefits? After all the CEOs and EVPs get a platinum parachute when they leave. Notice that the OP is not whining about having to retire. So yall, stop those senseless reactions to the OP.

It looks like the new style at HPE is they do not want dedication or loyalty, and there is no reward for it. They are perfectly happy with the company operating on a revolving door basis where people come and go every few years. Time will tell if the new policy will get the company to the fore where it wants to be.

It is now 2017. Move on with your life. You had 40 years to be ready for that moment in 2015 and at least a decade, if not more, of warning signals.

I don't get your complaint. Why should HP retroactively give you a pension when you were working at a another company? Go work at Apple and ask for the stock options offered 20 years ago, and see what they say.

Being/feeling "Ripped-Off" is the "American-Way" you know... that's "Capitalism..."
