If you have 30 years of service, are you able to retire. I do not work there I just had a back and forth with my gf on this, she claims that you can and I claim that you cannot.

I was with GE for 8yrs(5yrs salaried team leader) and recently left for a better opportunity...I had accumulated 3500 in pension with 0 contribution and cashed it out for 20% tax...
You have to be aged 55 years to collect any pension owed. The amount you collect will be reduced unless you wait until the age of 65.
Actually you can collect your pension through 880 at 55 years of age at a significantly reduced rate. At the age of 65 is when you can collect your full amount vested.
Well are you talking about a corporate employee or a regular old store employee? Union or non-union? Then it would depend on which union. All I can tell you is about me, a current local 880 member, and the answer to your question is no. You used to be able to do 30 and out, but they got rid of that a while ago. So now, no matter hiw much time you've got in, you can't collect your pension until you turn 65.
