Lack of innovation and inability to see the emerging trends and technologies that customers are interested in, that's what will be the ultimate downfall of the Dell empire. Dell's solution, buy another storage company that has nothing of real value, just a portfolio of legacy storage arrays to confuse even the most die hard Dell customers. With the uncertainty around which products will survive long term and which will quietly be phased out sooner rather than later is it any wonder that sale of Dell/EMC storage continues to slide? Hiring more sales staff isn't the answer here especially when the customer has no confidence in the lifespan of the products while hyper-converged and cloud are proving to be a more viable solution to building more silos of on-prem storage.
Meanwhile upper level execs battle to see if legacy Dell or legacy EMC management styles will prevail all while smaller and more agile companies quietly steal their storage array customer base.
Posted by @PdVLcWw-maw, completely on point. How long will it take to realize that same old approach is not working?
