Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Rumors of Ft Collins site closures

Rumor going around saying sometime early next year they will close the site down. Even after spending all the millions on renovating a new office.

The previous comment is incorrect. I have gone through today's layoff, and have this information directly. We are technically employed until Jan. 31st, but no longer required to come in to work. The benefits extend through this period. Also, as a courtesy (I think), the additional severance pay period (with WARN 60-day reduction) will also carry the full insurance and benefits. After that period - three months at a minimum - Cobra can engage if desired.

Although the leadership and direction was pure b---s---, the severance is not exactly undesirable. At the after-layoff party, one of the dominant statements was "I was afraid they WOULDN'T lay me off...".

Having gone through this already, your benefits are only valid for the period of time that is already paid for.

So my understanding would be that your health benefits are only good to the end of the month. You can go to the website specified on the exit paperwork to enroll in cobra for 18 months. If you are effected you will need to do 2 registrations; one for the remaining year and one for next.

To the extent that a federal, state or local law, including the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act ("WARN"), requires the Company to give advance notice or make a payment to you because of an involuntary termination of employment, a layoff, a plant closing, a sale of business or other similar event (individually and/or collectively, as applicable, a "WARN Event"), the amount of

such required payment will coordinate with and reduce the severance pay otherwise payable under the Plan.

I'm not sure where the info below came from regarding severance, as that is not in the current plan. It's two week per year, as it has been for last two decades. Also, your severance does not get reduced if you are asked to stay during a transition. Heck, when they closed the Mason office in 2013 the people that were asked to stick around got a bonus for each month they stayed plus their full severance.

Yep, it looks like the 29th is the day FTC gets it.

So per the last comment on the WARN act --if you have been employed less than 4 years and are non essential you will be terminated that day, and get 60 days of pay. Correct? Is health insurance also covered for those 60 days? Are you essentially on the "payroll" for Dec and Jan?

Those who are essential personnel (module/probe owners) will be working the 60 days required by the federal WARN act to transition work to India. Not doing that job will get a termination, and no severance. Because, in accord with the North America Employee Handbook, these 60 days will be deducted from your severance pay, those employees will only get actual severance pay if they have more than 4 years of service, and the amount will be severely reduced. Merry Christmas from AS and VK!

heard the same rumor. Probably not a bad thing. Not a lot of meaningful work that goes on there. Product is old and tired its ripe to ship off to india. JS former GM was an arrogant POS that duped the BOD into UIM pipe dream just long enough so he can fill his pockets full one last time. Actually lots of arrogant people in FT C. management is tried of it, product is sh-- and budgets are bloated. its time to go and JS isnt there to protect you anymore . VP Architect NG still there? Isnt he a POS or what? Does that dumb--s know nobody likes him? Anyway, rumors like this dont leak by accident. Company wants to spread out the pain. Which is why smart ones look now and leave ASAP. if you wait until they shutter the office you will compete for the same 3 openings at other companies with dozens of your other colleagues. Good luck

Upper management failed to answer our Wagl question about FTC site closure. That does not bode well for us. He completely skirted around the question.
