Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop and perhaps the other big aero-defense companies have been playing this game for a long time where the ongoing layoffs are continuous throughout the year but the numbers laid off at any given time is always kept below the threshold where the Warn Act applies. Through an ongoing stream of smaller layoffs these companies have laid off thousands or actually tens of thousands of workers without ever showing up in the news or having to report to the government. Since it is a common knowledge that this type of layoff has been happening for a long time, I wonder if the wording on the Warn Act was written purposefully to allow companies to bypass the government reporting or continue to cheat the system.

GM people want to know about whether Boeing engineers are in a union, if so is it helping their job security, and if so, how?
BCA year to date which tends to list WARNS for Washington state has dropped 4,712 jobs this year so far. While BDS site Mesa, AZ where a bunch of SSG jobs got moved went from Jan 2017 3,687 to 3,734 a gain of 47. While Charleston SC (non union so the don't lose jobs) when from Jan 2017 7,565 to 6,943 by Sept 2017 a loss of 622 jobs this year
Interesting Missouri (St. Louis) BDS / GS&S employment numbers January 2017 were at 14,064 then dropped to 13,901 in April 2017 then rose to 14,062 in June 2017 (probably shifted from So Cal?) then fell again to 13,918 by Sept 2017 for a net loss of 146 jobs. So Cal (Long, Huntington Beach) went from 13,878 in Jan 2017 to Sep 2017 12,955 a total loss of 923 jobs.
That is very very true with Boeing St. Louis BDS layoffs for years it seemed only BCA would announce or do warn act related ones.
Sounds about right...
