Thread regarding Toys "R" Us layoffs

This will be a bad holiday season for Toys R Us

The TRU bankruptcy has caused vendors to restrict the amount of goods they ship to TRU due to lower customer demand for the upcoming holiday shopping period. Many consumers will look elsewhere to shop this year because of the uncertainty of TRU surviving there financial woes. It's going to be a bad "season" for TRU...and then many store closures will follow in early 2018. Mismanagement and poor leadership at the top has caused this for all of its dedicated employees and customers. Don't wait to find another job (or career).

Around 50% SSS loss on 12/9 over previous year in most stores.

Throw in the towel already.

I am pretty sure this will be a good holiday season for David Brandon:

There’s a very noticeable drop in volume from all stores. There’s still healthy sales in some of our stores but others practically had tumbleweeds.

They’ve already been quietly closing stores as their leases expired even before the bankruptcy. I imagine they’re going to get more aggressive right after December 25th.

Black Friday was such a joke. The Ad was hidden from the public (because it’s all old toys we’ve been hanging on to for three years.) And the hot items, the reason people came to shop on thanksgiving, was being held in the BOH for a Sunday ad.

Even though the company got an extra three billion to play with corporate is so inept they wouldn’t stand a chance anyway. I’m sure they know that. They just wanted to fund their bonuses one last time before they turn the lights off.

Some stores will close, but TRU is not going anywhere (yet). It seems to depend on if Bain Capital decides to pull the plug (like they did to KB Toys) and then determine if its profitable to just shut all stores down. Though,I believe some TRU stores will do better than others and they will close the under performing stores (which is inevitable).
