Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

If you work for Citrix and have not just been made redundant, can I ask you a question?

Are you seriously considering staying?! Surely, you can now see how much they actually care about their employees? If I were in your position, I'd be out of there like a shot!!! I'd like to hear others' views.

The longer you stay the lower your value in the job market. What will your answer be in an interview when they ask you why you stayed so long?

If you have been long enough that your severance package can cover you for a few months, and if your salary and benefits are at least on par with the local average, then develop a thick skin, grow a pair and stick around. Grind that to your favor. While you wait, do your best at work. Work to be a worker that deserves what you have and more. Develop a positive attitude. Look at your responsibilities (old and new) and skills. Network inside and outside the company and study your options in the job market.

That way, when the time comes to get the pink slip, you can say "thank you" for the opportunity to have worked at a blue chip company (even if it is no more), and for the opportunity to be the best you can. Then you will be able to face whatever comes after.

For wherever you go, there you are. No matter how this goes down, you owe it to yourself to use it to your favor.

@PR4xBKh-3inc is right: Stick around and see what you get and see how things shake our. You're only doing them a favor if you leave on your own.

Sit down and take a look at your current responsibilities, what responsibilities you gained from someone else's departure, and whether the money you're currently making justifies it. It might or it might not.

I think the bigger question is: "Will you still be in with the company in a year?" That question is important because it will determine how performance is evaluated and how compensation is adjusted.

Attrition is a company's best friend. If you leave of your own volition, you save them money, time, and effort required to provide any kind of severance package. Why not stick around to see what they might offer?

Those who are left will not think that way. They will be scared and grateful to still have a job. If anything, they will hold on tighter and do everything they can to keep their job, not lose it.

There's a reason Citrix is laying off. It is not alone, many companies are laying people off right now.

For proof, go to "Latest Posts" and spend some time reading where you will see every industry and a healthy number of top corporations, as well as mid size companies, laying off thousands.

This is your wake up call. All is not well in the nation or economy, and now you found out by getting a pink slip.
