Thread regarding DeVry Inc. layoffs

IT outsource to CapGemini has begun, layoffs are back in style!

Today the senior leaders of IT announced that most of the infrastructure and operations work being done for Adtalem, and the institutions, by the IT department in Downer's Grove is being outsourced to CapGemini (all in the name of student satisfaction and environment stability, of course). Hey, you know who else announced a deal like this recently? McDonalds did, at the end of August! And remember how that worked out for McDonald's employees? Oh wait, it didn't. There were approx. 100 McDs tech workers "became" CapGem employees assigned to the McDonald's account, and more who were simply sent home.

Not looking too different here.

It was announced that 30 folks in IT were "impacted" (what a nice soft word instead of TARGETED or LAID OFF) by this move to outsourced Nirvana. It was stated that by the time the talking heads put on their show at 3pm all 30 employees had been notified their services will not be necessary after February. HR must have had a busy morning!

Best part was when somebody asked if this was the last RIF. "Yes, at this time this is the last RIF" was the answer. Gotta love that snake oil, because once we're past "this point" and into March or April they can and will do it again. The bloodletting ain't over by a long shot. CapGem comes with a hefty price tag, and more heads will need to roll to offset that monthly invoice.

I don't know about you, but I am sure a bunch of people who don't know how the environment is put together, or why it's put together that way, will do a much better job of keeping the lights on and the student experience will improve immensely. I mean, they're highly-paid professionals (with 20,000 new hires in India announced early July 2017) paired with whatever poor souls are spared or to timid to leave on their own, in the empire of a mad king - what could possibly go wrong?

All this going on in IT while Adtalem is teaching AUC students in Great Britain while renting a cruise ship to house RUSM students. I bet this quarter's earnings call will be very illuminating.

They aren't announcing ANY layoffs. Did they announce when the help desk was outsourced? Nope. We just got Henji on the phone one day. So much for bringing jobs back to America, Adtalem!

I don't think that this was announced in DVU. Are we that much out of the loop?
