Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Is HR at HPE useful at all?

Anybody here had previous dealings with our HR? My direct superior has been making my job a living nightmare, the harassment never stops. This has been going on for at least a year, but it has worsened in the past few months. I am not sure if reporting him to the HR will do anything, or if it will only get me in trouble (and I need this job right now.) Anybody knows from experience if it's safe to report him? I'd be grateful for any info.

PS: And I am looking for a new job, but until I find it, I can't risk losing this one.

I learned a long time ago that at HP(E), if you have a problem, you're the problem, so don't have problems.

Harassment might be an SBC (Standard of Business Conduct) case. Search for SBC on the Intranet, you should find orientation how to open an SBC case.

Get out now, immediately! I know all to well about ruthless managers. You have to more be ruthless, cold and calculating. Don't assume that someone else will watch your back. Take control of your own destiny, find the will to do it and press on for a better career and life.

HR are useless. The complaint will cycle back to your managers management chain who will usually cover their own backs. Ive seen this at close quarters. Put your energy in to the job hunt and get away from the toxicity.

In the current climate, going to HR, sounds like a quick way out the door. If you're inclined..

My experience has been that HP / HPE HR is non existent, what I mean by that is they have a lot of offshore idiots that try to do administration type task, but not any form of work force development, harrasment, etc. So, you could report it, but your better off with putting your energy towards a new carrier outside of the company. I can't honestly say I hope your not WFR'ed, until your really ready to go. However, the job market is pretty good today, and continuing to improve. You didn't mention your rank, but if you're rank goes to "needs attention" (sorry forgot the exact term, since they change so often) consider yourself on the WFR list. Even if you're a protected class (minority), everyone is fair game. Good Luck to All!

My experience at DEC (bought out by Compaq and then Compaq bought by HP) many-many years ago was rock-solid in the following manner: HR knows who signs their paycheck (corporate management does, you do not). So unless there is solid, incontrovertible evidence for SXY hanky-panky or physical bodily harm or murder, HR will favor the management, in a blatant manner that borders onto the absurd!

HR will always give benefit of doubt to the manager. My belief is that unless it is a s-xual harassment case, it is futile to go to HR at this company.

Not sure about others but my experiences with HR were OK... It's always a risk, though...

Report to HR. Unless a contractor, you will be fine. Would wait until Nov 1.
