Have had rumors since July of a layoff, but it seems to be postponed pending Works Council. Let’s see which region or country gets hit next if the Q3 numbers don’t come in.

Some of the channel sales and services sales teams in APJ have been cut 50% of their headcount. To do this i in January is a sign of desperation for SAP management. SAP is no longer the same company I joined in 1996. S4HANA is not much different from R/3 in terms of functionality. Go figure that out!

A number of customers see SAP as high cost low added value.
What's keeping SAP going?
The 17 to 22 per cent maintenance revenue to SAP that large customers do not want to risk taking off in case it affects their operations.
That there is no easy alternative with low switching costs in the market for large organizations already on SAP.
That too many customers and partners are deeply entrenched in SAP skills and moving away from SAP jeopartise their jobs too.
So, is SAP innovating fast enough or is it just sales messenging?
Most likely not Germany, workers council will make sure of that. But in other market units for sure. Anything that bears the words DBS "transformation", "streamlining", "restucturing", "operational requirement" is something to look out for. 2018 Q1 is my bet. Teams already being shuffled around to avoid the chop.
