Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Anybody notice SYW extra points giveaways have been reduced recently?

The last couple of months I have noticed that SYW extra points giveaways have been reduced significantly.

Has anybody else noticed this? Are you hearing this from other members or is this just me?

"According to Lampert and his fans, they are reducing the "voluntary financial losses" by issuing less of the surprise points. Presumably the excess point issuance was a way to increase the customer base. Now they can reduce point issuance and suddenly the company will be profitable."

Where did Lampert say this?

They need to issue some “ free cash” to our store so we could buy some printer batteries or charging station from the market place!! Lol

Now for a return to reality. The reduction in point issuance is just a desperate attempt to improve gross margin on sales. Giving away all that free stuff doesn't do anything for the bottom line, at least in the short term. By reducing the giveaways, they might slightly improve the profit percentage, but sales volume will continue to tank. This company is going down the drain fast.

Offers also depend on geographic location -- SYW can target a store's market area of <5 miles.

"Those offers are targeted. It is done by spending habits of the member and other factors."

That's a load of crap. You are right OP, I noticed that the surprise points giveaways have dropped like a rock.
