An HR rep announced today in an employ meeting of Jatila's org that there will be a "massive" layoff before the end of the year. The target is 25-30% of US Power employees. There was apparently a proposal made to Flannery which was rejected. It's being reworked. They're trying to figure out how to cut people without impacting the business operation.

Seems to me that, while the timing predictions are sometimes off, the forecasts of layoff numbers and locations have been pretty darn accurate.
It feels like the Russian Troll network infiltrated these boards. So many unsubstantiated rumors that never pan out. Plus, the sheer amount of grammar errors make me wonder just how "professional" these Confuciuses are.
Hearing the same rumor (25%-30%) circulating in Greenville. Some of the 25% will (reportedly) be from closing entire facilities. The rest will be sprinkled throughout the various 'Power' locations, primarily Greenville, Houston, Atlanta and SCHY. Put your seatbelts on!
it must be true...it's on the internet.
Did not get laid off today. This was back in March.
@PI1U406-1ytj you received a layoff notification today?
Anyone have any insights with regards to aviation layoffs
I would not plan any expensive Holiday presents or vacations from what I am hearing each one of us across all businesses will work with someone that is getting actioned.
We haven’t had an alll employee meeting in Greenville since the 1st quarter. No communication from upper management either. Workplace violence videosshown plant wide last week. HR has been out a lot and pretty much closed for the entire week a few weeks ago. Something is definitely coming.
Who is going to pay for Jatila's car now that they cut corp car expenses? Maybe they will give out Raymond Weil watches as parting gifts? Oh wait, he has one of those too. At least SS tells you straight up where you stand and doesn't smile at you while he's plotting your layoff. Too much back stabbing and politics for me.
I never got a meeting request. My boss called me and asked me to meet him in 15 minutes (the room he gave me over the phone was in the hr suite)
@PI1U4O6-1nfd, Agreed. Obviously with the impending announcement of Flannery's plan and the current outlook for GE, something is coming. We really will not know until HR sends us the meeting request. Everything else is pure speculation. HR and management are experts at keeping layoffs quiet.
75%?????????, kisi chiz ki had hoti he yaar.
kuchh to sharam karo
Bull. HR doesn't "announce layoffs" ahead of time.
I thought I heard a report from a third party that may have heard the layoff maybe possibly 75%
we had work place violence video Thursday morning at 273. still think this is all bs
Awesome move GE. Get rid of groups that interact and develop relationships with customers but keep all the other endless BS groups. I could name so much BS that GE keeps and thinks is important. And the leaders have the deer in the headlights trying to wonder why GE keeps failing. Leadership at GE has to be the most clueless, dumbest people to have ever received a paycheck.
Yep they played that video in Greenville
I’m guessing that is why i herd some areas had a video presented to them of Work place violence lately! Hourly layoffs coming to Schenectady. If 25-30% is true then that is roughly 300 people in Schenectady. I should of took the $30,000 when they closed the battery plant. All because of failure by GE’s management crew.
Good thread - thank you all.
Jatila used to be in Greenville when he had Accessories. He moved to Schenectady in 2013 when Vic Abate took over Power Generation Products. His new role there was CAE with the direction from Vic to get the 50 in 60. He is now on the 5th floor with the beer kegs and open offices..except for his and Scott Strazics. He is an empire builder.
McElhinney's team in GRS is also going to be hit hard this time around. Another 30% of their teams will be eliminated. Some of them in the Repair org got brand new offices this year, which will probably soon be unoccupied!
Jatila has a huge organization. Rumors were flying he would have a reduction in staff , no surprise. He has very few friends. Get you pr resume ready.
At 25% cut, they may as well close the shop.
It's stupid.
But, does not surprise me.
They will do it.
The Welch's method, proven and glorified. Hit them quick, hit them hard. Move on. Breathe in. Repeat.
Wow...25-30% is huge....I wonder what the timeline will be.....they will announce Q3 earning next Friday which won't be good. It doesn't sound like they have figured out which employees will be laid off....that task usually takes a few weeks. I think this will be drawn out past the Nov 13th date.
I really don't feel like a employee meeting would divulge that much info ..
General manger of customer applications engineering in Greenville
Flannery --> Stokes --> Mastrangelo --> Jatila Ranasinghe --> Naresh Amineni - was his meeting.
Sorry, who is “Jatila?” Didn’t ring a bell for me. Thanks
So I’m guessing this includes salary and hourly?
