Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Raleigh expansion still on?

How does this even make sense anymore?

Public records show the incentives the state offered secured the deal. But, to get those dollars, Citrix will have to create at least 360 jobs by the end of 2021. It will also have to maintain its initial headcount, which was at about 800 at the time of the announcement. A headcount of a little more than 600 makes for an even wider gap that would need to be crossed to get the cash.

Everyone with an SMB role in Raleigh who survived this week is already looking for a job elsewhere, unless they just want to stick around long enough to get laid off in 2018 and collect a severance package. Vacated SMB positions will not be backfilled. The office in Raleigh will be down to around 200-250 people by the end of 2018. Of course there's a good chance that Citrix isn't an independent company by that point.

maybe the cost savings from the layoff is greater than the tax breaks

It won't matter. By 2021 anyone with half a brain will have left already on their own. To think they will still even be called Citrix in 2021 is laughable.

pretty simple really... just hire from the alphabet soup visa pool: H-1B, OPT, L-1, etc. NC doesn't care if you hire Americans or foreigners--they just want the tax base.
