Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Expect layoffs to continue

The Tech industry and layoffs go hand in hand. Many don't pay it any mind until it happens in their area or until it happens to them, but it is an ongoing process like this one will be over about the next 18 months or so. This is just he first wave. Micron in Boise has changed ; their focus requires a more skilled workforce lower end hourly is clearly on it's way out.

Agreed, @Pt5LAn4-7vjl. It's enough to look at this board for other tech companies to see that this is neither unique to Micron nor new. And I truly don't see it ending any time soon...

In every department , those who can make it to a spot in a circle of handful of people (not experts but cheaters, cunning & clever) who are clever to put their foot at the root of circle of people are the ones who decide whom to hire and whom to fire at every downturn. I was in a department where my manager was so called metrology leader with over two decades of experience and still had no clue of basic problem solving concepts. I was surprised that he had no idea of what is MSA and GRR and machines several millions were laying useless for several months. I build processes that makes sense, with a lot of focus and devotion but that manager gave credit to his my-dear and didn't like to put my name on the final technology deployment/transfer document. When there are lingering problems and issues they hire hardworking experts who come with great aspiration, solve issues, and still they are fired by that cunning network. During my time, I didn't get any chance to evaluate others and I didn't know who evaluated me. I never had such experience at anywhere I worked so far. Shame on you guys. God will not bless you, I am sure.

This will not be limited to hourly employees. Micron has and will continue let engineers go in the recurring layoffs. Some deserve it. Many don't. In all my years, I have only seen a handful make it to retirement.
