Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Detroit hub will probably take the brunt of layoffs

I guess we all agree GE is in somewhat of a mess. They will fix stockholders perception with the big cost cutting. The underlying issue is there core businesses revenues look bleak. They say GE Digital has the potential to be major revenue generator.

This is true but they have a lot of catching up to do. GE as a whole is already reducing number of employees gradually then before November they will announce somewhere around 800- 1000 across the company.

I don't think digital is safe either but just won't be any shocking numbers. Detroit hub will probably take the brunt of layoffs for digital just because they have mostly leftover capital employees that just does not have the right skill set. This is the way of business now days. Just a tip take seriously getting another job. GE is in for a rough ride for at least 3yrs.

incorrect about Detroit hub. yes, leftover cap people will be gone for sure, but the others who will get cut are from any businesses we decide to divest. aviation emoloyees are about the safetest and there's a decent number of them there and they actually execute, not sit around chit chatting and marketing like the cinci digital people. if flannery is real about no sacred cows, every BU's headquarters should have a clean house especially at middle management where there is so much glut.

So San Ramon is actually cheap because GEs cost of living adjustment there isn’t correct. I did VJRP so I’m a few months out, but we (not Predix FYI) tried to hire some legit people in the area and our max cost of loving adjustment was still tied to Fairfield. That didn’t fly in San Ramon so we couldn’t get the good person we were targeting or the good people in reserve. All we could get was crap so we closed the posting. I suppose we should have claimed cost avoidance for that move

San Ramon will likely take a big cut too because of the higher salary base in California.

If the Yahoo article is to be believed, most of the layoffs are going to hit Global Ops, which doesn't bother me any since they're terrible at most everything they do. Digital is going to get hit again but it shouldn't be too bad.
