Thread regarding DeVry Inc. layoffs

It's sad that those who are getting laid off are luckier than those staying

For years I have been saying that we need to start working on teach-out plans while we still have the resources to do it. I have no clue why we have not done this. Some locations have but many more locations need to, possibly all of them. Some of us are worried that by the time DVU goes under completely, there will be no money left for teach-outs or severance packages. We who keep getting passed over for layoff are becoming increasingly concerned that we won't get ours. We know that a layoff with severance is the best possible outcome for any of us.

Supposedly DVU still has over 20,000 students nationwide, though I cannot personally confirm this. If it is true, then perhaps management thinks we can accumulate a little more money before we can't keep going anymore. I wish I knew what the real long-term plan was because it obviously isn't being communicated to us.

Reposted from @PyCBgu6-ukg. So true. Those getting laid off now and getting their packages might be the lucky ones when all is said and done.

Without exception, every single person I know who has been laid off from DV has ended up in a much better situation. They're now happier, healthier, and have hope for their futures. Someday soon I believe we will all be joining them, and I am eager for that day to arrive.

I was laid off in the March 2017 mass culling of competent employees. I have to say, if you are going to be hit, count your blessings. You will land on your feet and, believe it or not, the dogshit 'leaders' at Devry (beginning when the midget hamburgler started in '03 until the present) are the exception and not the norm. Once you get beyond 2 or 3 months out, you will ask yourself why you ever stayed in the b---s--- bureaucracy in the first place.

If you are reading this it's because you, or someone you enjoy working with, is experiencing the stress caused by over a decade of incompetent leadership; leadership characterized by insecurity, greed, and outright brainless decision making.

From the hamburgler to donna lorraine, to the dork ron paul (does he really think anyone gave a sh-- about his proclivity for comic books or his really terrible sense of humor?) What a deluded bunch of insecure people they truly are!

Ps...I hope hamburgler is choking on the millions he bilked from the company, the federal government, the students and the dedicated employees who once brought intwgrity to that place. You little little man... Hahahahahahha!

For severance, they probably give you a 2 pound bag of peanuts for each year you tolerated working there.

Unless you got a masters from univ of phoenix and had a large toy collection with a sleazy persona then you get to have eighteen months of salary plus bonuses and fully paid health insurance

Devry severance package is peanuts. They pay a week's worth of salary for each year of working.

It is a joke.
