Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

I took the VJRP

...and am so happy about it now... I exercised all my options earlier this year at 29 something, so I missed last years peak in November or whenever it was unfortunately.

So I have no financial ties to GE anymore, but I spent over a decade and a half there and still love the people and the company. Predix, I never loved and it has to go. It's been a sh--show all along. And the leadership there is a joke. The top guy in San Ramon can't do an all hands without coming across as your goofy uncle... the old CMO made a bunch of promises that were not delivered on and then effed off on a Europe trip and then a MSFT job.

I also took the VJRP and it was the BEST decision I have ever made in my career. The leadership of Coretech and the Predix teams are a joke and are in way over their head! After 17 years of constant org changes, uncertainty, political nightmares, a-- kissing, etc I now see that life outside of GE is so much better. The grass isn't always greener but at least it's not dormant brown with massive amounts of weeds! Cortech leadership talked a good game as usual but never delivered a solid plan and never executed on any bogus plan they spewed and actually believed in their own brains. The last step was to do yet another org change and put people in leadership that have no idea how to manage but talk a good game of buzzwords. People that are in way over their heads! I thought GE leadership finally was going to get things right when they brought in Drumgoole but that turned out to be a HUGE disappointment and just another leader that talked a good game but couldn't execute or find his way out of a paper bag.

I enjoyed my 23 years. I really struggled with the decision to leave, but I am so glad I did.

I was fortunate enough to retire early and put the VJRP money in a savings account.

I had no faith in Predix.

I'm glad I took the VJRP package and I don't miss GE at all. I thought it was the most disconnected and empty experience of my life doing remote support in an almost all-Indian organization. Good riddance, GE!!

Do you think so? I'm in Digital in Detroit - everyone is looking for people to come join their team since there is a hiring freeze. I'm making over $160 K now doing low level program management in Predix - EASY job. I've never been paid so much for doing so little - I don't miss my Ford days.

Voluntary job reduction program.

My GE business unit wasn't offered VJRP, and I left for greener pastures on my own. I agree with your assessment, Predix is a disaster and this program, along with layoffs are causing brain drain. GE may never recover. It's too bad because I love the people, but have zero faith in corporate IT leadership in Digital.

Can you please tell what VJRP is?

Great decision to get out when you could. I believe people on hardware side that work with the cloud are going to be next to go. For the rest of Digital anyone over 35 will be tortured a while until they get weeded out.
