Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Treat your employees better

Don't get me started with how bad a company Macys is to work for here it is : Working for company over 14,years. Commission v Draw employee. Women's shoes. Have not ever received a raise!!! That's right folks. Their reasioning is we make commission. Well , here is some info: The fact is these days most of us do not make commission and if we do its penny's . Why, because we are doing everything except selling ! Doing fulfillment every morning when customers are present , Doing returns, exchanges, payments etc. How can we make commission if we are stuck at the register for hours taking cartons of returns from the internet? Find a manager to help us ? That's a joke . First try to find one . You can't because their doing 20 things . If you do find one they will try to get out of it by telling you it's your job to take returns!,

Yes ,but then how can I make commission if I am behind a resister all day?..

Macys ..... Take all draws away, and pay your sales associates a decent WAGE!,

Maybe then you will get quality people who will want to work and build a future with this company.

You know the expession : You get what you pay for. The quality of employees that my store is employing is a joke. They are young inexperienced and lazy!,

Macys keep this up and you will be closing not 100 more stores but all of your stores . Good luck to my fellow associates. I'm finally retiring had enough. Maybe after working for them for 14 yrs they will have their associates chip in and give me a PTO or better yet a candy bar!!!!

Work for Macy's only thing have problems is manager knowing your days you could work and not.. so why is problem now, should had been beining not just wait for years for one to work there, also for you owner of Macy's back of house is doing alot especially with trucks 1,2 ,3 ,4 or 5 days and 2 or 3 people in line is not right is hard work most of us employed get hurt because of your broken racks ECT... manager reporting you about equipment damaging to have new and get nothing that's why you have a lot people reporting accident in your company Start checking out why people leaving Macy's and know some managers getting away treated the employers wrong report to HR open case from Macy's don't hear from them back. so what if you get paid 15 something of rate at less you working for your money you do what you can not be lazy or better yet get other job pay more. Macy's owner needs to find out by checking the camera. the point is we are suffering as much of you losing your store wish you nothing but the best giving you my input.

Oh if you got it right I worked there for 23 years. They paid 9% commission over your draw. If it started becoming too much they just hired more people thus reducing your commission you can get. I never missed one day of work. There was never a thank you or even any mention of it. It is very true also about that they make you do everything. When I first started working there all I did was sell. We then had to do stock and everything else That was mentioned.

I'm the PH7 poster and I'm sorry to inform you that I am not a corporate visitor but I am a sales manager that has managed Women's Shoes as one of my FOB's for a many many years. I'm just very tired and worn out with the drama and complaining I hear on a daily basis from associates. Management is very thin in stores as everyone knows. Why people think we have time to listen to you complain about your job is beyond me. I want to be with you on the floor helping u build sales and selling with you and helping YOU make money. Celebrating with you engaging with you and making you feel good about your day at work. That's my job. Bickering amongst each other, gossip and complaining that you hate your job is DRAMA. You want to do all that it's your right but keep it out of my department and off my selling floor. I'm not your therapist. We are here to run a business, if you don't not like how the business is ran and the decisions being made you have the choice to leave. We are all adults and a majority behave like highschool drama students. It's distracting and most often times discussed amongt each other on the selling floor in front of customers which is unprofessional. I am not saying I disagree with any of your points about draw vs commission structure. You work very very hard for little money. And yes we do take back worn shoes, last act last longer than the 30 day return policy, price adjustments outside of the 14 day window and take back shoes outside of our return policy. I cringe everytime I do it to take care of a customer cause I know it affects your commissions. But if I don't do it we know it will be a social media blast from the customer, a bad survey or a a tell us what your think letter they fill out on .com. And they will end up getting their way and probably Macy's Money ontop of it. We have no control. I am sure each of you know your sales manager can not do anything to change the pay structure nobody listens to us anyways. We all get your frustrations we are beyond frustrated too.

Thank you everyone for sharing ... Its nice to hear I'm not the only one . You guys are right

The money making days in shoes are over.

I also have been thinking of leaving and going back to reeducate myself. It's never too late to go back to school. Never too late to learn to make real money the easy way. I hope this venting motivates and open your eyes too.

So true, I got so fed up and I left in July. I hated it so much I left without finding new job first (stupid me) - I am glad I've done it though

I feel your pain. I worked 13 Plus yrs in shoes It's not easy to make money as it used to be. Those good days are over. We get screwed over quite often especially with our schedules. Managers return everything even worn down shoes to the grown. Adjustments are made over 180 days. Commission is not easy to make when you sell over 8k and are still in deficit Why did I stay so long I don't Know . Probably the fact that I got to comfortable and would be hard to start over at a new place. I don't like change But it's time to fly. Back to school to get a degree to get a real job. It was good while it lasted. Minimum wage is going up so fast and our commission rate is still the same. Good luck everyone... The money making days in shoes are over.

I guess it is not as bad as you are saying? Who sticks around for 14 years and 9 years respectfully, at a company they hate and doing a job they hate? I'm sure you b--ch and moan at work as well and are a nightmare for a manager to try to coach and manage. Move on with your life and do something you enjoy doing. Stop going to work miserable you only get one life to live so why be unhappy. And please don't reply with "there are no jobs" yes there are, plenty in fact.

I agree 100 percent. I'm also an associate in shoes. Been with company for 9 years, no raise. Commission is hard to get because of the work load expected. We are doing support level work and not getting compensated for it.

Maybe if the store management would stop bullying the associates into lying about how much they love it at Macy's, the C Level would know how we all really feel (not that anything would change).

They will not treat employees well ever! A company that cares wouldn't have such shameful health insurance a real disgrace to us employees! Then asking you to volunteer pto days for the hurricane victims. They should be paying them for the lost time. Instead of thanks for sharing time for caring. Wake up Macys!maybe your employee surveys would improve if you show some compassion for us.
