Thread regarding Sears layoffs

List of companies donating to flood victims

Someone posted that Sears was donating. I haven't been able to find an article stating that Sears or Eddie would be donating money to flood victims. I did find an article that listed companies that were. If anyone has a link to an article posting about Sears or Eddie donating please post a link. I do like to know which companies donate as it is my personal belief that they have a civic duty to respond to such a crisis and I like to support businesses who provide assistance and good will to those in need.

Here is a link that lists companies that have donated. WalMart is donating $20 million in cash, products and supplies, Verizon $10 million and a Michael Dell has donated $36 million

If those at the top who make millions never fairly participate in taking a cut of their own when they make US put up with cuts to hours and workers... the least they could do is donate it out of their own pocket to hurricane relief. Lord knows we've dealt with the company-wide "hurricane" they've caused for too long.

Saw that too. The associate to associate program. One minimum wage worker helping another. Something I would do but not when asked by Sears. Leena could donate her bonus & many more would be helped than what the store level can sacrifice.

Saw the so called company sponsored program but did you notice that no details were given about it? Makes me question if it's real. How would you know?

Landsend is sending $25,000 in clothes to help with the relief effort. Hopefully, it is weather appropriate and they have agencies that are able to store it and distribute it.

"American Red Cross Fundraising: We’ve teamed up with the American Red Cross to help raise critical funds to support families impacted by Hurricane Harvey:

In stores: At all Sears and Kmart stores nationwide, members and customers can make a donation when they check out, with 100 percent of the funds going to the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Harvey efforts (through Sept. 16)."

Really they are raising funds with customer money. They also have a, lol, associate to associate program to help those who suffered severe losses, in other words the associates can take up a collection. They did mention a sponsored program to help associates who suffered losses. I don't know who is sponsoring though. Oh, Sears did allow emergency trucks to use their parking lot. How nice.

Looks like Eddie's Florida estate may be in some trouble later this week.

Yeah I don't think Eddie would be throwing any money or any other sort of donations. As for the original poster below...are you f---ing serious?! Are you his wife or something? I mean yeah, it may not matter who is running Sears and the times are changing. But let's be real here, Fast Eddie is running Sears into the ground and maneuvering it so he and a few of his upper lackeys get their golden parachute, THAT'S IT!.

"Sears is not really in a position to donate,"

Perhaps, i don't know. They are in a position to pay their execs million dollar sign ons, and million dollar salaries with annual incentives etc.. But even if Sears is not in a position to donate, Eddie is.

Let's not change the focus of this thread about whether or not Sears would be closing stores or the effectiveness of Eddie as a leader. That is another thread. someone stated that Eddie/Sears is donating. I have not seen any article that corraborates that statement. I did see that Sears Hometown Outlets were donating which is not Sears Holdings. I commend Sears Outlets, they're not in a great position to donate either but yet they were able to step up and do something.

Give credit where credit is due, but it is shameful for someone to allow people to believe they are doing or giving when they are not. That is what this thread is about. If you can site an article listing what Sears or Eddie is doing, I would like to know.

Sears is not really in a position to donate, but Eddie truly is a nice guy. Sears would be closing stores no matter who was running the place, its due to changing times. If anything Eddie has kept it going longer than anyone else could. He is a strong leader in tough times and has a big heart. Its sad that nowadays its become a crime to care too much.
