One thing I noticed too is that around 2012/2013, they stopped posting how much money in sales each store was making in the district too. They had revenue figures from each store on it, plus where they ranked in sales. They're probably too embarrassed to show those figures now. There was something like 20 stores listed in our district at the time and the bottom 8 or 9 are all gone from the district. That's bad when they no longer post revenues from each store. Then earlier this year, they stopped posting how sales were going to. Nobody but the store manager and grocery manager know now how sales are doing. They had that posted for everyone to see up until about 3 months ago. That's bad when they are even too embarrassed to show employees anymore how the company is doing. That should clue folks in that they might not be doing so hot. The one thing I do know is that one of the stores is losing $300-400,000 a week in sales, maybe more. They are also going around cutting back the hours of many of the 24 hour stores too.

Ignorance is pure stupidity, and your stupidity will keep you bouncing around endless minimum wage jobs the rest of your life! Anyone, even those with a sliver of intelligence, understands the climate in today's retail business sector. With all the developments in surrounding the internet and home delivery options, businesses will continue to save where they can to remain profitable so that those of us knowledgeable and intelligent enough, will survive and continue to be successful.
Giant Eagle being down 1-2% over the previous year is NOTHING compared to KROGER (LARGEST Grocer on the planet) who's posted three consecutive quarters of Sales Decline averaging -0.25%, and what about Walmart's 2nd Q 0.25 - 0.50% STS decline that equates to MILLIONS of dollars in only 90 days!
Hmmm, you don't see either of them crying bankrupt!?
To those claiming hours were cut because the company is going under, did any of you ever stop to think, perhaps the reason "hours were cut" is rather a direct result of the inability to even hire new employees quick enough to take up those hours??? Oh, of course not, you only think that YOU should be getting 40+ hours each week rather than hire new people which creates flexibility for when YOU call off? With such hatred and resentment, nobody wants you to obtain full-time status as a result and eventually spoil what's left of humanity within this organization!
Wouldn't Charles be so proud if he were alive today considering many of you offer endless narrow-minded senecios that are perfect examples of modern-day Darwinism!
My rant will now conclude and I thank you for reading; I hope you enjoyed hearing rational thoughts for a change.
Bingo! They stopped posting sales results because there's tons of reports on Business Intelligence (like the scorecard) that will show sales. In fact if you look at the very first option on the scorecard for all stores, you'll see as a company most weeks sales are only down 1-2% per week. Not great, def not where anyone would like it to be I'm sure, but not disastrous considering the climate of retail at the moment
Sales on GE central under store scorecard. Can even narrow it down to each department. $10 am hour employees can see this. Ask your team leader, or keep complaining. You’ll probably keep complaining is my guess. No store is losing 300-400k a week that literally makes no sense at all. Embarrassing for you that you believe that.
They slashed our hours to. Even some of our departments close early now. Example our deli used to be open till 11 now it's 9. I work in prepared foods and we're running a skeleton crew most of the week now. What I understand they want to cut more hours. Not looking good
They have been cutting hours at my store too and were one of the busier stores. They used to post daily managers meeting notes now they only post notes when sales are down and they want to justify cutting hours and running bare bones crews
