Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Layoff Week

Any word on change of plans for the upcoming round of layoffs this week and next as a result of the hurricane and floods in Houston?

I know they've laid people with flooded houses off before, but this is a unique scale...

Making money isn't good enough lol. They need to make MORE money. MORE and MORE.

I'm surprised that the number of people who have left on their own hasn't been enough to cut into the number by now...

Why would there be more layoffs? We are making money and the energy is being delivered, there is no need anymore. Relax we are fine

As one who was laid off in the one that occurred in October of last year, prayers to those that get it this time. I'm still job searching.

I heard rumor the annual fall massacre this year is scheduled for Sep 18. I don't care because I updated my resume and applied for several jobs. If I get the boot, whatever. I don't want to work here anymore, disgusting environment devoid of ethical management

I don't believe anyone was saying they were being laid off 'because' of their flooded home. (or that's not how I read it.) I read it that it would be heartless to do that in the midst of the hurricane Harvey mess occurring.

There will never be a good time for layoffs. I suspect they might delay a week or two but for many it will take months and months to recover and a company won't delay layoffs that long if they are in the works.

They had said that the next round of layoffs would probably occur in September but that was info from in the Spring when it was all happening so it could have changed. If it follows the model of most other merges (Suncor and PetroCan etc) then indeed there is another round to come along. Autumn is the most likely time for Oil/Gas so probably some positions will be hit.

Fingers crossed it is minimal....
