Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Juniper October layoffs

12 % layoff in October

Juniper preping to go private in 2018

I've seen this posted in another thread, I was wondering if anybody else has heard anything about this? Is it just a rumor, or is there some credence to it? Over a thousand slated to be let go seems rather high, even for us...

Agree to above points . Most of the hiring are of cousins , brothers , sisters who are incompetent and insecure . They lack the basic talent and skills and are just ego massagers who are coming just to cash in Juniper . God Save Juniper

Most managers and higher ups are Indian. Of course! They want to hire Indians and bring their own people in to Juniper to work! Anybody not see this as being obvious?

Many of them have no clue with what they are doing in their jobs which is no surprise in how they even landed a job here.

@P1jgqB4-2yyv, you make some very good points, and I agree with you. We are stuck between a rock and hard place here. There are many dedicated people like yourself, who mean well for this company. Sadly, we are faced with the nightmarish dilemma of working alongside unscrupulous, self-serving, career builders who have found their way here (for the most part) from Cisco. They have come here in droves. They have come here as groups of friends, hopping around together to keep each other supported. They care, not one bit, about the success of Juniper. They are here to move their careers forward. To get promoted to the next level. To become managers, directors, VPs etc. etc. If HR cannot detect these goons and their human weaknesses, and wean them out, this company will continue to spin out of control. Rami, himself needs to get involved and put his foot down to stop this nonsence. Hiring friends and and family members, over better qualified people must stop. This is not a place to build fiefdoms. As leaders, it is their responsibility to make sound decisions. Promotions and hiring decisions all over this company are ridiculous. Even interns are hired based on nepotism. For started we need to fire every exec who has hired or influenced hiring family and friends.

Layoffs and reorgs are coming... we can only hope they will clean house and wipe out these self serving, worthless managers, directors and VPs.

Someone said Juniper is bringing people from India instead of hiring American workers. It's an understatement really. Most managers in juniper prefer hiring from India and few of them exclusively bring from there all the while letting people go from US. Is it legal?

No one will buy Juniper. It is in decay. Headed for a tragic disaster. When our founder Pradeep Sindhu, flips the bird and walks away to spinoff (yet another) startup, thats a clear indication that he sees no future here, and is looking to bank another $100M+, at the expense of Juniper. The writing is on the wall. Just like Contrail, Fungible will be spun back in so Pradeep could have another payday. Just like with Contrail, it will cripple the rest of Juniper's R&D dollars. Having Elliot Management on the board has nothing to do with any of this. Bottom line is they are all skimming from the top, at the expense of us. Yes, I am grateful for the opportunity to work for Pradheep's company, but this slow death of Juniper, and killing our careers out of greed is just not the right thing to do. Is it?

Going private and/or sale has been a rumour for many years. However that does not mean its untrue. Elliott Management has two board members in Juniper. Their final goal is to make money out of this seemingly dying tech company. Their problem has been Juniper is too costly for a hedge fund takeover like Bluecoat, Riverbed etc. However, let's not forget that Elliott was also inside of Brocade and pushed Brocade slowly to self-destruction. They fired people on phases for quarter after quarter, and finally sold it off in bits and pieces. Add to that the fact that Juniper's new EMEA boss hired in July is ex-Brocade who has already started Brocade style nepotism by firing Juniper people and hiring his cronies from Brocade, even his EA. Also, our founder member Pradeep has all but left the company. We do not have any Wi-Fi, IoT etc. in our product suite, our Security solutions s---. Any management would have to be insane to think they can compete with Cisco with this kind of product line policy. IMHO, a sell or a privatisation is not as far fetched as it may have seemed in previous years.

Juniper is offshoring work to India in a big way. In certain cases, they are also relocating India folks to the US on L1 visas and filing for their green cards vs hiring Americans. Talk about mismanagement. It's quite unfortunate that Juniper is not hiring or retaining American workers and instead laying them off.

It's between 5-8% and managers are preparing the lists, not yet finalized. The shrinking gross margins are the major reason for the cuts.

So have the managers started deciding which positions to cut?

Layoffs in October, yes. Going private or sale, ongoing 10 year old rumor and untrue.
